Spinks wins it, I think Quarry was tough, and impossibly game but he was a born counterpuncher... When Jerry had to chase guys, he had too much trouble catching up because he lacked the quickness of foot to keep pace with quicker, more mobile guys... Quarry did his best work when there was someone coming to him, someone he could hit with that counter hook... Against Spinks, who always knew how to stink the joint out against a guy whose power he respected, Quarry finds himself unable to track down an elusive prey... Michael keeps the legs moving, keeps sticking the jab out there and throws just enough right hands to let Quarry know he's there, en route to a tedious, but deserved decision
Quarry was the considerably better Heavyweight, but Im not sure itd play his way here. Would be a close one. I could see Quarry doing a little more hurt and being busy enough for the decision, but Spinks was the smarter fighter, and the more accurate one.
