good bloody battle but i liked hendo-shogun bettter. Maybe because I saw it live, while I knew the result of this fight.
I watched them both without knowing the results and liked the Henderson-Rua fight more but only because it was on the big stage and pitted two guys with deep histories in the sport. But for non-stop action and fireworks, Chandler-Alvarez was better. After the crippling body shot that Alvarez landed, I just knew he was going to take over the fight. WRONG. By the way, this really diminishes the standing of those Dream 155 pounders like Aoki, Hellboy, Kawajiri, etc. Alvarez, who was probably the best of the lot, just got beaten by a guy with 8 freaking fights. And Aoki and Kawajiri were exposed by Melendez. The truth is, they just aren't top level guys at the weight. And it sucks for Bellator because Alvarez was really the one guy on their roster that people thought MIGHT be one of the top 3 or 4 in the division. He's not.
chandler was relentless. i'd love to see a rematch. alvarez was hurt from the beginning and looked like he failed to fully recuperate.
Just saw Shogun-Henderson and got to say that my initial tought was founded. Chandler-Alvarez was simply a better fight and by quite a margin too imo. Far too much lull in action compared to this one
You watched the Hendo-Rua fight knowing the outcome. So you're not comparing apples to apples. The idea that either Hendo or Shogun could end the fight at any moment is what made it so intense. Knowing the result and the length of the fight completely removes that from the equation.
I watched both knowing the outcome. But to be honest, Henderson-Shogun is the kind of fight wich lose a lot of appeal when you know the outcome. It's a fight of momentum
Exactly right. It was such a tense fight. The action wasn't AMAZING, but it was a real battle, physical and mental. And you really had no idea who was going to pull it out, most of the time I did think Henderson, then Rua would refuse to give up and come on strong etc.
