    Who would you pick?

Most of you seem to have a higher opinion of Broner than me. I think Gamboa would beat the fuck out of him.

    As of now, Gamboa.

Still need to see more of Broner.

Broner is the naturally bigger guy and that would probably be the difference.

I hear Gamboa wants Rios at 135 next.

I think in a year Broner probably wins.

I dont see Gamboa being special above 126. Plus he's not exactly that young.

Broner is only 22. I'm not a fan, but given his age and talent, he has a pretty bright future.

BTW - I think Broner is more a lightweight anyway. Best believe he'll out grow 130 within the next few years.

And if he takes that fight, then thats the end of Gamboa. Rios will absolutely brutalize him and give him a beating.

Maybe like X said in a year or maybe 2 Broner would beat Gamboa, seeing as Broner will start to enter his prime and Gamboa being 30 right now doesn't exactly have much upside. Its all downhill from here and thats why its best he takes the big fights while he can.

But if they were to fight RIGHT NOW, I'd go with Gamboa due to Broner still having some ground to cover.

Although he's not yet ready if they ever do fight Gamboa better keep his hands up because Broner is quick and throws a mean counter hook a punch thats dropped Gamboa in the past.

After re-watching the fight again, I must say..... Broner's pretty good. He left a bad taste in my mouth in the Ponce De Leon fight, but I'm willing to chalk that up to a young fighter having a bad night.

He should fight someone like Rocky Martinez next. He'd do a number on that guy, considering Broner is alot more talented than Ricky Burns.

Anybody else thinks Broner's fixation/obsession with Floyd is a sick as Kobe's with Michael Jordan?

Broner has a loonngggggggggg way to go before he's even Kobe.

He'll never be as good as Floyd though. That much is a guarantee. Floyd is one of the top 5-10 most gifted fighters of all time.

Broner doesnt have to Floyd to have a successful career though.

BTW - Russell Jr reminds me of Stevie Johnston, only with better handspeed and power.

Its VERY possible that in about 2 years Russell will rule over 126, and Broner will rule 130, or perhaps even 135.

At lightweight, I'd ALREADY pick Broner over a Kevin Mitchell, or Ricky Burns.

    Not Rios, or Guerrero though.

    Huh? Based on what?

I assume you're joking. Cause just 2 weeks ago were saying Gamboa would thrash Rios.

Yeah, but it's almost sick. Like obsessive stalker sick. He imitates every Floyd mannerism to perfection. Just like Kobe.

Broner is a lot taller and has a longer reach than Gamboa.

Gamboa has gotten better defensively but Broner's height and reach would pose problems for him. Gamboa's got aligator arms as well. Which isn't as much of an issue against guys who are slower than him...Broner would pose "problems" for him.

Not that I'm a Broner fan, but with his speed and defense...it's a fight I have a hard time seeing Gamboa winning unless he bullrushes and lands something big.

Otherwise it's a snoozefest because Gamboa stays on the outside and stays out of harm's way.<!-- / message -->

Might as well put this in Mythical Matchups. As long as Gamboa fights for Top Rank, there's no way he moves up in weight "just" to face an Al Haymon fighter.

As for Broner imitating Floyd - he does so by his own admission and doesn't even try to hide it. He flat out said he'd rather what a Floyd fight and see what moves he can steal than to be forced to sit down and watch fight footage of his upcoming opponent.

It's been working for him so far. he should work on the shoulder roll defense thought.
