I have a feeling that Rios might actually KILL Murray. Seriously. :: I have no idea still, how and why this fight was made, (made more sense to match Mitchell with Rios), but anyhow. Rios will most probably bring the fight immediately to Murray in the opening rounds, aim to get on the inside, throw and aim to pulverize poor Murray and SHOULD batter him and eventually (probably early), KO him. You never know tho, many thought Martinez would stop and/or KO Barker early(ish), but that did not happen, so Murray could spring a surprise and make it a good fight and cause Rios some problems. Murray may aim to try to establish some distance between himself and Rios and play it tactically, but I can't see how he'll fend off Rios' attacks. I still think Rios will get Murray out of there before the mid rounds. What are your thoughts? :shadow:
Murrays getting all sulky about british fans dont think i can win and rios is overrated. Its so obvious he'S gonna lose, he lost to kevin mitchell and mitchell lost to katsaidis who lost to Rios, which means, murrays gonna get fucked up.
Nice, sneaky attempt to put some more big names on Katisdis record!!! Fair play to Murray, at least he's packing in on a high-note, and getting well paid, I wouldn't put it past him to knock some snot out of Rios before he finally gets overwhelmed.
Sounds like typical Top Rank crap. A top guy like Rios can't be expected to face anyone who's a threat if he's not headlining a PPV, can he? That'd be going well above and beyond what we as fans are willing to pay for. If and when Rios makes it to the PPV circuit, we can see him fight top competition. Until such time, he will fight the likes of Murray, with some under-sized top fighters and past their best names thrown in. Yay! Top Rank wrestling. I mean, boxing.
No it wasn't. Ruiz is garbage - he's been shot for years. Anyone can knock that guy fucking out. Please don't write about it or otherwise act as if it's any accomplishment at all. Kellerman said himself Ruiz was a fragile guy. Of course, in the same breath he seemed to act impressed by the knock-out nontheless. I'm so tired of mismatches and over-rated, "stars," I could puke. And wish I could do so on Arum, Kellerman and Schaefer's face.
Chill out, L. Who ate your last Rolo? Forget about whether Ruiz is shit or past it, or what not. It was a nice shot to KO him. Fact. Others have agreed. Stop being a spoil sport.
But I do agree with your view on good/very good fighters being overmatched with distinctively average opponents, claiming easy wins in the process.
Yeah. It's probably an over-reaction on my part. And it was a picturesque knock-out. I'd just hate it if if all panned out just like the promoters wanted, with Russell, on the stength of a knock-out of Ruiz, becoming a talked about guy and getting credit for knocking out a guy who doesn't have it anymore.
It was a mismatch. Russell jr was far too quick, too strong and too fresh for Ruiz, but Russell jr has something about him and i'd like to see more of him.
Me too. But I wouldn't be interested in seeing him against another Ruiz, or some bantamweight who's in his late 30's.
Murray's only chance is that Bam Bam is BOTH undertrained, and weight drained. And even then he'd have minimal chance. Rios KO 4.
I can dig it. Closest thing that this fight reminds me of would be when Richie Wenton fought Barrera in Atlantic City on Halloween night, 1998. I think it was the undercard or feature attraction of the Hamed vs McCullough fight. Wenton was badly outgunned but he gave it a right go and managed to hit Barrera in the face a few times. I was delighted for him. I'd just love to see Murray bash Rios in the nose and make all the La Colon Ya bitches cry. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FgdibPyX_Jw?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FgdibPyX_Jw?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>
Rios has never beaten anyone good, this guy needs to fight other top LW's. JMM would be my choice. JMM bashes this guy.
He fought Peterson who was a pretty decent guy. But I agree. He'll need to step up the competition before he deserves very much credit though, and obviously, Murray is not the answer. He's in the, "build up underserved reputation as top fighter," phase of his career with Top Rank.
RIOS CAN'T MAKE THE WEIGHT!!!! Just in from Sugar-Rays: http://www.facebook.com/Sugarraysuk Brandon Rios has failed to make weight ahead of his fight with John Murray tomorrow. He tried three times to make the championship limit of 135 lbs but didn't get below 136 lbs before the scales were taken away. John Murray must now decide if he wants to fight Rios in a non title fight at a catch weight.
Damn, he couldn't even sweat off an extra pound? Maybe he just didn't want to, to weaken himself too much etc.
Sounds like another abuse of negotiating power. They know Murray is over a barrell and won't want to go home empty handed. Expect an over-the-weight beating for Murray now.
that extra pound is probably going to be the only reason rios will win. too bad that bloke who beat murray had issues getting into the US
Yeah, OK. The truth of the matter is that Rios isn't at all concerned. He won't be stripped of the title, hasn't hurt himself to make weight like Murray has and now will have a non-title affair where Murray probably earns less money and is at more of a disadvantage as he can't just pack up and travel home empty handed.:shit:
