Who would you pick? Let's say it's Rios's first fight at 140.

Rios first fight at 140? Have to go with KHAN he is proven in the division.

I would love for Rios to kick Khan ass, and I might change my mind if they do fight. But I think that Rios success at 135 is a combination of overwhelming size advantage over his competition, and the lack of skills of his competition. You can't go from Antillion and Acosta, to a work class boxer like Khan at a new weight, even if Khan has a glass chin.

Now if Rios has a few fights at 140 and show no negative effects from jumping up...then he might just be too much of a man for Khan.

Yeah, I kind of feel the same way. I used to be sure he would beat Khan, especially after watching the Maidana fight, I thought he would run Khan out of the ring.

He still might, but you're right, he's definitely a fighter who relies on a size/strength advantage, and at his first fight at 140, he'd surely struggle a lot with Khan's speed and reach.

It would probably be a more intriguing fight after a couple of fights at 140. Even one against a legit 140 pounder would be good, to acclimatise to the division.

Damnit man! I was going to post the same topic. I think Khan could deal with Rios' elemental pressure. Khan wins a comfortable UD.

Khan could barely deal with Maidana's primitive style, however the jump in weight could negatively effect Rios, he seems like the type of fighter the higher he goes in weight the less his style will work.

Rios's pressure isn't that primitive at all. He's a pretty adept pressure fighter, not a wild man like Maidana.

Rios picks his shots well, is fairly compact, cuts off the ring well. Just a good, classic pressure fighter.

Maidana is the one with a primitive style and he almost beat Khan.

I have to say though, against rangey boxers, sometimes it's the more wild and unpredictable fighters that do well, rather than more patient, skilled pressure fighters.

Agree, Rios is better at throwing punches, but still cutting off the ring. Plus unlike Maidana who gets wilder and wider as the fight goes on Rios just keeps on coming with shorter punches and with better stamina.

Rios would eventually draw Khan into a brawl and he'd be pretty big and strong at 140 too. I dont think Khan could hold him off forever and Khan's lack of defense would be his undoing. Rios would eventually get inside and Khan cant hurt him. I think Rios would stop him late.

IMO maidana gave Khan fits because of his unorthodox style of punching. He throws from wild/crazy angles and he's very explosive. Rios fights with a rhythm. Whatever he brings to the ring, Khan has already been through it.

I don't doubt that Rios will be good or better at 140 compared to 135. I know he is not proven at 140 yet. But him not making weight on Friday shows he outgrew the weight class already.

But Khan's biggest attribute is his speed and range. I think he can keep Rios at bay for a while.

Rios will definitely take risks to get inside but Khan's speed and accuracy would be too much.

I dont' doubt Rios can hurt him but like Maidana he has to hope of the home run.

    Most likely Khan outboxes him.

Khan hits harder than he's giving credit for. It depends on how Rios takes his power he has leaky defense and if Khan could land his shots he will get you out of there. Khan has to be the favorite being the bigger, faster more athletic guy.

I disagree. I don't think he's a true puncher at all, his shots really don't have much "mustard" on them. He's got better, but they've always been fairly amateurish shots, point scoring.

Of course he's going to hurt guys through sheer speed, and people not seeing them coming etc, but I don't think he's a puncher.

The body shot against Maidana was somewhat flukish IMO, after that he took Khan's shots fine.

In fact, fat 140 pounds El Terrible hurt Maidana more than Khan did with head shots.

Khan is moving to 147. He's tired of being ducked by guys like Rios and Maidana and Prescott and Bradley and............

He ain't that good to be called a King of any sort. Maybe king of the middle eastern boxers. He ain't even king of his own division.

exactly, there's nothing middle eastern in Khan.

gotta love americans, according to them, everything that's brown come from the ME.

as for the question, I used to be big on Rios, but he looked like utter crap tonight. wonder if iot's because of the weight drain.

He looked total crap, obviously based on tonight's Rios, Khan would beat him easily.

But surely most of that was to do with him literally looking like a Zombie at the weigh in.

Well, at first I didn't think he was good, then he kind of won me over in the Acosta fight.

Acosta is a pretty solid boxer puncher, and it was impressive the way Rios just ended up overwhelming him, afterbeing schooled and bashed up early on.

He looked quite good against Urban Antelope too.

We'll see what he looks like at 140.

I hope he gets bashed though, along with anyone else from the Garcia camp.

This is the first time I've properly seen Rios, and I wasn't impressed at all. However, he may have been drained so I won't write him off completely yet. Based on that though, Khan beats him like an egg.

Slice, honestly not a good fight to judge him on.

As someone who was pretty sold on him based on the Acosta and Urban Antelope fights, he looked like utter SHIT.

He might turn out to be not as good as I thought, but he looked really, really bad at the weigh in and apparently didn't eat for 5 days.

I'd like to see what he looks like at 140.
