This is one of the dark aspects of Boxing (one of many)

No one "cuts" you from the team... as long as some corrupt commission or sanctioning body will give you a license, you are free to get pummelled

In 20 years, when Roy, like poor Jerry Quarry before him, is insisting in slurred speech that he was a football player in his younger days and has no idea who James Toney was, we will have the same sad sports news expose' about it and everyone will be made aware and again, nothing will be done... It's criminal that a guy in his condition is allowed to soldier on, losing to guys who couldn't wash his mouthpiece in his prime

Absolutely. I just think it's sad fighting a complete bum. At least delusional Holyfield is fighting (mostly) contenders. There's absolutely no purpose in this.

The Guy Roy's fighting has 2 knockouts out of 14 wins, so it appears that they are concerned about Roy's chin these days.
He has not won a fight since 2007. One fight he lost was a decision over 5 rounds to Sam Solimon at super middleweight 4 years ago. Solimon is a guy who was knocked out by Anthony Mundine.

Just looked it up, a decision win.

It's not the usual things that shot boxers lose, but Roy has absolutely no killer instinct left. If he hurts anybody it's by accident. If Mayorga stuck out his chin like he did to Forrest and Tito, Roy probably wouldn't even hit him.

Roy looked soft in the upper body for the first time.

What annoys me about this is that Roy has taken on shades of shotness. Guys like Tarver, Johnson and maybe even Calzaghe, guys who beat a still-a-little-bit-good Roy Jones will find that the current bundle of stem-cells in boxing shorts that is Roy Jones is who people will remember as the fighter that they beat. It's not. Roy is now in his 8th Dan of shotness. The Pope is going to declare him the Patron Saint of Shotness if this keeps up. Saint Roy of Pensacola. I'd like to say that Ratzinger is going to Beatify him but I don't want folk to get the wrong impression.

Roy was shot all to hell by the time Calzaghe slapped his way to a decision over him

He was finished before Johnson got his mits on him as well, and that was years earlier

Yeah, but he wasn't this far gone. I mean he could lose to Vargas if they fought now.

REED 1st Detected NOTABLE Signs of SLIPPAGE in Roy Jones in '00-'01, Around the Time of the Eric Harding & Derrick Harmon Bouts...

Roy had a SUBPAR Performance vs. Harding, Which Wasn't Unprecedented...But What Stood Out to REED was the Harmon Bout, Roy's VERY NEXT Fight...For the 1st Time in his Career, Roy had BACK TO BACK Subpar Performances...

It Would B ANOTHER 3 Years Before Tarver FOREVER Ruined Roy, but Close Observers Noticed a Decline PRIOR to then...

And when he came back down for Tarver after fighting Ruiz, he looked downright STRANGE to me... I figured maybe it was a one-off, just a physiological thing

Then for the rematch he looked EXACTLY the same

That's why I don't think too highly of Tarver, I think he got JOnes at the right time, the fact that Glen Johnson proceeded to knock Roy dead shortly thereafter (a guy who went neck-and-neck to one-time Jones fodder Clinton Woods) only further bolstered this feeling I had about Tarver

At his best, Jones whips Tarver as easily as he did a dozen other guys, Tarver was nothing special

me too unfortunately because i lost a pretty penny betting jones jr. by decision in the rematch.

i wouldnt say johnson and woods were neck and neck either though. those were some robberies.

jones jr. certainly showed slippage against that bum harmon. all those tedious twelve rounders versus bigger men took their toll on him

Ive ALWAYS said that the Hall fight was the last fight Roy was prime in.

I think he began to slip against Harding. And its not like Harding was some great fighter.

The Jones that beat Reggie Johnson, and Hall would have done a number on milkdud, and Calz.

Tarver might be too cocky to admit that, but I think Sloppy Joe knows in his mind that he couldnt beat a prime Jones.
