Khan has become quite big headed at this point and dilusional. I wanted to see something different from him in this fight, but nothing was different. It may make for entertaining fights , but it's quite horrid to watch too - Khan's inability to fight on the inside, the constant running, throwing repeat flurries in similar patterns, it's getting too predictable. Khan should avoid Floyd.
Can't make a case for Rios beating Khan just yet. Will need to see Rios at 140, before making any real prediction, but Rios' style would definitely give Khan HELL.
it's true, khan has no mustard. part of his speed comes from the fact that he throws powerless arm punches - he doesn't take the time to position and angle his body to put power behind it. the guy does not throw power shots. plus his only defence seems to be to run backwards very very fast.
So would his chin, stamina, and POWER. He'd show Khan no respect and walk through his powershots. I would be very surprised of Khan-Rios gets made. The two rival promotion companies aside, I don't think Khan's people would want that fight after seeing what happened last night. Khan is just too hittable to beat Rios.
Months ago, I predicted that the Peterson fight would be Khan's toughest since Maidana, but I began to feel less inclined to see it that way and opted to go with an easy win for Khan - shouldn't have changed my mind. Here's that post, from June. :l3:
We've learned something today. We've learned that a flawless haircut, a great trainer, the right clothes, and shameless leap amateurism can get you far in America - almost to the TOP....... but it can't get you everything. :mj:
Khan is still wanting to show people he has a chin, by reacting to every shot he receives on the chin. It's tedious, get the fuck on with the fight! Stop messing around.
:: It's so true it's stopped being funny now. The commentary was a sham. Doesn't anyone have a straight fight these days anymore?
I actually didn't mind the Sky broadcast last night. They were very fair, all agreed with the decision, the point deductions. No bitching at all. Pretty solid.
Its funny, in the end, the retarded farmer Froch proved to be a MUCH better fighter than Khan. Even after Froch loses next week. He'll only have losses to Kessler, and Ward. Khan has lost to Prescott, and Peterson. Let that sink in Khan groupies.
Apart from having to listen to Jim 'Mr Dead' Watt speak, Sky broadcasts are generally pretty decent. Kinda dull, generally, but fair.
Froch is undoubtedly our best fighter and to anyone with a brain cell that has always been the case the past few years. Why don't you state the obvious again and pretend it's insight.
He ALWAYS WAS a much better fighter than Khan, and he might even be a better fighter than Dawson. Not a better boxer, but a better fighter. Remember, this guy stands in with people and out-does them. He might not out-do Ward, but he'll try. Khan is faster and that's what people buy into. Boxing has a storied history of fast-flash fighters being ground down and beaten up. At every level of the sport, from Meldrick Taylor being broken down by Chavez {I refuse to call him Chavez Sr} to guys like Khan being got at by Maidana or Peterson. It's one of the enduring themes of boxing. Speed doesn't last 15 rounds, it doesn't even last 12 rounds. Grit and balls and application are universally applicable throughout the fight. That's what the teenyboppers don't get and they don't get it in part because people like Kellerman are stood there bigging up the slicksters and putting down the gritters.
No, Froch is a better BOXER than Khan as well. And his ring IQ is about a light year better. Dawson is different. Chad has WAAAAYYYYYY more skills than Khan, he's just a lazy fuck.
Well I guess its a question of interpretation. The key element here is that Froch, Vitali, Floyd, Hopshit, and a few others, Donaire probably too, are part of an ever shrinking class of guys who can stand in front of an opponent, refuse to panic, and find a gap, and drop their preferred punch right through it. No leaping, no flash, no flurrying or windmilling. Examples of what I mean would be Donaires hook vs Montiel, Vitali's hook vs Danny Williams, Froch's uppercuts vs Magee or his bodyshot vs Tony Dodson, Floyd's check vs Hatton, this sort of stuff. Fuck Bernard I won't give an example for him.
Broner has the POTENTIAL to reach that type of level. Of course, he has to be tested by a top opponent. But Broner definitely seems like he's more skilled and accurate than Khan. And he's only 22. Probably wont hit his prime for another 2-3 years. Khan is 25. Like I said, thats prime for a speedy guy. Lets face it, Khan isnt even that good NOW. Once his speed declines, he'll be a bum.
Great refereeing performance last night. 'Fight your way out' 'Keep your head up' 'Stop pushing his head down!' 'Stop using that elbow' I almost couldn't believe what I was hearing, it'd been that long since I saw/heard a referee doing his job.
