What's your impression of him? - He's just after ko'ing Simon, who's never been stopped or ko'd. Is Golovkin being avoided? Protected? Was a nice shot that ko'd Simon.
Will that be made, IYO? Golovkin seems pretty handy, but hasn't got great speed, but certainly looks like he hits hard.
I'm impressed with Golovkin so far, and thought he handled himself well on Friday. Simon not much but normally durable. Golovkin nailed him w/ two perfect left hooks - one to put him in position for the knockout blow, and the KO shot itself. I like his instincts and demeanor. Just needs better opposition, but that should come in time (hopefully). I give him a fair shot against any middleweight right now, save for Martinez and maybe Pirog. A telling bout would be against what I believe his mandatory - I get confused with the way the WBA does things. But he's a 'regular' titlist, and Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam holds interim version. Their styles should mesh nicely in terms of a terrific action fight and go a long way towards revealing what to expect from Golovkin in the next few years.
It was a lovely shot. It's great to see shots like that, that are set up and timed instead of seeing fighters rushing in and swinging, hoping for the best.
The guys seems pretty good from what I have seen. Looks like he has legit power. He doesn't look like the hardest guy to hit though. If his chin is good, this guy is going to be in some real good action fights when he steps up the comp.
Golovkin needs to hook up with Roach and get his flurrying in order. I won't stand for concise finishes :nono:
Instead i think he should hire Kevin Rooney and then get rid of him shortly after. Whenever he loses we can talk about the possiblity of him getting back with Rooney and righting the wrongs.
Golvkin can definitely fight, I just worry he might lack the speed to go with it, next thing you know I can see him well in fights and drop decisions to Spurm-esque fighters who bring some technical ability and some flash. The fact that Jake feels Martinez and Pirog might as of now have too much for him would seem to support that conclusion. More seasoning may be needed. PS that fight looks like it took place in a railway station.:tick:
Golovkin's the best tatar since Tszyu. Finally Finland sees the light from beneath the shadow of Helenius. Pirog will always be Arabham's father, but without an awesome DC ref,..he's getting 'old-schooled' ,..ironically in a similar Arabham fashion, for you see, he waits until his opponent stops punching, so although he moves like a rubik's cube,..it'll be a face of all red squares one day, not just the heavyweight depression.
It was actually a hotel conference room/ballroom. Pretty sure it was the hotel reserved for the fighters to stay at when Wlad was still on the card. The ring walk was amazingly quick. Never mind a track, you could barely play a ringtone from the dressing room exit to the time they stepped foot in the ring.
Dan Rafael @danrafaelespn Dmitry Pirog is injured and out of the 8/25 @HBOboxing fight vs. Golovkin and that's a major bummer. #boxing @BannerBoxing
I love this sport, but its at an all time LOW right now. If a fight is actually SIGNED that seems too good to be true, 98% of the time one fighter will pull out.
Xplosive, you're not wrong, it's actually becoming weird. Almost every compelling matchup recently has been cancelled for one reason or another. I was actually looking forward to this fight, it's an interesting matchup, without an obvious winner.
