[IMG]The UFC is ready for the first international season of its longstanding reality show The Ultimate Fighter, and on Tuesday UFC President Dana White announced that Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva will be the coaches of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil, which will make its debut this spring.

"This show in the United States is huge -- it's one of the longest-running reality shows," White said at a press conference in Rio de Janeiro. "It's incredibly popular, it's been huge for us there. We think it's going to be 1,000 times bigger in Brazil. The amount of talent that's in this country right now? There's an undiscovered Anderson Silva, Jose Aldo, Vitor Belfort or Wanderlei Silva."

Belfort and Silva are both very popular fighters among Brazilian MMA fans (and Belfort is also known even among non-MMA fans because his wife, Joana Prado, is an actress and model), and the fight between the two coaches after the season will be a very big deal in Brazil. But that fight will be a long way off: Belfort first has to fight Anthony Johnson at UFC 142 in January, and the Belfort-Silva fight won't take place until after the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil, likely early in the summer.

The UFC has a deal lined up for Brazilian television, although it is not yet known how American fans can watch the show. The Ultimate Fighter Brazil Finale will air live in both Brazil and the United States.

Belfort vs. Silva will be a rematch 14 years in the making for the two fighters -- the two of them met in the first UFC Brazil show in 1998. That night, Belfort exploded across the Octagon and drilled Silva with hard punches, needing just 44 seconds to win by TKO. But both Belfort and Silva said they don't think that fight is particularly relevant today.

"It's a great honor to fight against Wanderlei," Belfort said. "I see it as a new fight and not a rematch."

"I think the first fight was very quick, I couldn't perform as well as I wanted to," Silva said. "I think this is one of the biggest rematches in all of modern MMA and I'm very pleased to give this to my fans and to once again fight in Brazil. This is a dream."

Tryouts for The Ultimate Fighter Brazil are taking place this week, and the UFC is expected to announce the cast members in early 2012.

Too bad this fight didn't happen when Silva was going great in Pride. His punch resistance is nowhere near what it was. Now we get to see if Vitor can improve on 44 seconds.

I guess even when Belfort gets injured at least he'll still be available for the show.

anyone care about this matchup? I sure don't. No more than a free prelim fight on Spike these days.

Silva said it's the "one of the biggest rematches in all of modern MMA"

No, sorry Wandy but it's not even in the top 50.

What happens if Vitor gets beat up by Anthony Johnson?

Blame it on an injury and move on.

I don't see that as very likely.

i don't think it matters how he does against johnson, the show will still happen.

I see Johnson beating Vitor as very likely.

Vitor looks awesome at times, but has never really been an elite fighter, he's never lived up to his talent level.

He doesn't quite have it at the top level.

Johnson can fight, is younger, hungrier etc, I see him outwrestling Belfort and doing OK in the standup too. He'll win a clear decision or stop Vitor.

funny how things turn out. years ago in japan, silva would've beaten the shit outta belfort. but now we're back to how they met years ago the first time and silva might not only get blitzed but we'll be knocked out cold this time around.

hopefully, silva will somewhat fight intelligently like he did vs. le and make it to round two where he'd have a better chance of winning.

yea i'd go w/ the upset (in terms of betting odds at least) as well. johnson will hold his own standing up, but he shouldnt have much trouble taking it to the ground.

Sig bet? I got Vitor. You got Johnson. If Vitor wins, you post this in your signature for a month: "Buddy Rydell is my daddy, and I love it when he spanks me with his superior fight knowledge!!!"

If MWS doesn't take it, I'm in on this bet.

Johnson will manhandle Belfort, control him on the ground and win a via brutal GNP.

    Let me know.

    I'll take both.

Awesome, Trplsec gets the same sentence to put in his sig space.

Johnson has good wrestling, something Belfort has always struggled with. He got out wrestled and laid on by Overeem, who's wrestling has never been great.

Vitor's accustomed to fighting bigger guys. He's hot and cold, but lately he's been pretty good with the exception of one kick to the face. I think he'll win. Overeem was at least 205 when they fought and closer to 220 come fight time. Plus, his height gave Vitor problems. In particular, the standing guillotine. Rumble won't be as big.

Rumble looks bigger than Vitor, it's seriously amazing that this guy ever made 170. He's a big MW.

I said it before, I have no idea how he made 170, the guy is fucking huge. He must be naturally very good at cutting weight.

Johnson looks like Precious when he's not training.

I don't discredit the guy's ability to gain and lose weight. He's great at that, but I wanna see what happens when Vitor chins him. He can be submitted, but can he be taken out? The two best punchers at 185 right now are Vitor and Anderson.

    This should be good.

I am going with Johnson, hence the sig bet, but the scary thing is that Belfort will hurt anyone he touches at 185. It's pretty tough to get matched against a banger like Vitor for his debut at 185.

I like Johnson but I'm still cleaning out space in my signature if you know what I mean.

I look forward to tomorrow night. What a nipplehead Rumble is, not even coming close to making weight!
