This might ring true if the fight weren't such an obvious mismatch. This wouldn't even qualify as a big fight for ODH.

Only difference is Judah lost some small fights too.

 

De La Hoya would kick his ass so hard his high heel would get stuck in there.

 

I think Oscar would win, but it wouldn't be easy. Judah might even be ahead late before imploding. Oscar always had trouble with guys who could match or better his hand speed. Judah just doesn't have the brain mass to win.

 

Zab would run like hell once he felt that first punch from Oscar.

There is nothing competitive about this fight.

Yeah, overall I do believe Oscar to be the better fighter, but it has to be said Mosley beat Oscar when they were both prime, in fact he beat Oscar more convincingly than anyone else did. I scored that fight 9 to 3 for Shane.

They split the first 6, and Shane won the rest. At worst it was Oscar up 4 - 2 after 6.

Having said that, I think Oscar edged the rematch.

Judah at his very best was without a doubt one of the fastest fighters I have ever seen! He had blinding hand speed and good power. It would have been INTERESTING in the first 2-3 rounds until Oscar's apparent talent difference would take over and stop Judah.

 

I think I had it 8-4 for Shane in the 1st fight and then I Oscar winning the rematch by the same score or you can argue a 7-5 also.

But I was not impressed by Oscar in that fight. I mostly had him winning beause he just outworked Mosley. But he lacked power, lacked accuracy, and as usual his stamina failed him in the late rounds.

 

If all fights were 4 rounds, dlh wouldve been an all time great

 

in this matchup the dildo recipients futility vs southpaws must also be taken into account. his girly right hand being a huge problem for him in such fights.

 

Go ahead and pick Judah to win. We could all use a laugh.

 

It's one of those fights which has to be put in context a bit, ie of Oscar trying to rebound after the Tito fiasco with the promise of '4 fights, 4 KOs'. I think he saw Shane as a lightweight he could march through and KO, reflected in him pressing the fight so aggressively which plays exactly into Shane's hands. Without that baggage, Im not sure who wins that fight. Overall Oscar is flatly superior, in my book, if only because he wasn't thick as slurry.

 

im sure many here had a hearty chuckle when you attempted to paint the fourth fight between marquez and vasquez as a meaningful, score-settling victory.

Oscar is a good example of how some fighters simply don't have good stamina.

Guys like Duran could even slack on training and still be zipping around late in the fight, but with Oscar - even if he looked to be in tip top shape, he simply never had good stamina.

Obviously training goes a very long way in regards to stamina, however there's always a cap to it, some fighters simply have bigger gas tanks than others.

 

I think it's a stretch to say he didn't have good stamina --- at the highest level of the sport, I'd agree it was below most of his contemporaries, but that has to be looked at in context. He never had great stamina, but he is often made out to be a lot more vulnerable in this regard than he actually was. He fought his share of great late & closing rounds throughout his career.

 

All has to do with relaxation. Duran was SO relaxed in there... you could look at Oscar and tell he was stressed, tell he was thinking about every single move he was going to make before he made it.

 

...Which is a shame, because tactically, De La Hoya made an awful lot of errors in his career.

 

Oscar was indeed very tense and it affected his stamina. That said throwing punches and certain moves he made looked pretty natural and not always cerebral.

Not that he ever had great stamina, but i think part of the thinking about every move was in part by the amount of trainers he had. Very few world class fighters went through as many trainers and attempted style changes as Oscar. (if any)

 

Odh was a fun fighter to watch. Even the fights he had that were regarded by some as lacking action more than made up for it with drama.
