He's actually become a parody of himself. I don't see it being good for the sport. I'm not saying people should plaster on fake dignity, but the over-the-top showmanship is equally fake and likely to drive away people who like a bit of sportsmanship with their sports.
Sonnen is just an idiot. He's not a very good fighter so he has to try to make a name for himself by talking absurd shit.
Yeah, it's funny with Sonnen. The guy is a wrestler but has absolutely horrid sub defense. So basically he can get any opponent to the ground, but if they have solid BJJ, he's probably going to lose. And his record proves this. His been tapped more times than Jenna Jameson. If the dude would have sucked it up and trained some BJJ over the years, he might be a top level fighter. He can still get alot of wins at 185 but will always have that Achille's heal.
Well, and that's he biggest problem with losing via submission. If you can't finish a guy like Anderson Silva, then you spend 25 minutes basically in his guard. Eventually you're going to get caught. When we were picking the winner of the initial Sonnen-Silva fight I picked Silva but said it would be a difficult fight because Sonnen was the best MMA wrestler he'd ever faced. BUT, I also said Sonnen has almost no ability to finish people and going 25 minutes with Silva gives him way too many opportunities to finish you. The same would be true in a rematch. Whether it's Silva catching Sonnen with a shot BEFORE being taken down or throwing up another triangle, 25 minutes is TOO long to survive with Anderson unless you're inflicting punishment. Sonnen loses again.
that was really pathetic. it's laughable that grown up , such as trplsec, think this is great marketing. Only makes the sport look unprofessionnal and childish.
I like Sonnen for most part he's funny but sometimes as being the case here he tries too hard but then again any publicity is good publicity right ? I mean here we are talking about him now and I don't see any Munoz threads and rightfully so. Munoz's name barelly deserves to be in replies never mind threads. What a boring human being.
sonnen's awesome. he really backed it up in his last fight vs. stann. i hope he dominates munoz and gets another title shot.
Personally I think Sonnen's line of BS is played out. I enjoyed it prior to the first fight with Silva because no one really cared about the fight until Sonnen started running his mouth. It WAS great marketing by a guy that few people had ever heard about. He generated interest in a fight that otherwise would have been a snoozer. I also found some of his comments funny for a while. But now he's just tired.
And at the end of the video his comments sound VERY much like wwe it's pathetic. It sounds just like monday night raw back in the day when I used to watch it. When I get my title shot I'm NOT going to cash it in against Anderson Silva. So GSP and Jon Jones beware? WTF? First off all idiot you're fighting for the #1 MIDDLEWEIGHT contendership. It's not a title shot of your choosing you dumbass. Second of all GSP is injured and when he comes back he's fighting Condit/Diaz winner. So he's busy for another year at least so please save yourself some time and don't run out next week bashing GSP in the back with a chair. And Jon Jones is fighting Rashad Evans/ Davis winner so again he's busy too. Just because you think you can drop to 175 or go up to 205 doesn't mean there are title shots waiting for you idiot!
I really dont see how Sonnen is gonna beat this Silva fella. That last fight he couldnt hurt him one bit. Silva will be ready for him this time and make quick work of him.
He can choose if he wants. But he will have to wait. And with damn near every fighter getting medical suspensions after they fight it's no big deal.
I thought he got him more than once, too? Not lights out hurt, but hurt enough to end up on top of him, laying and praying.
