Douglas' jab probably keeps him from being knocked out, but Ike would outwork him over enough rounds to win a UD.
No ocean between Ike and Tucker though A very even fight, but an edge to Ike as he had better stamina and Douglas was mentally a bit soft
On his best night, Douglas got a long count to win against Tyson. However, Ike is disgustingly overrated. Douglas wins this.
Best night doesn't make Douglas' stamina better though. Nor do we know how well he could battle through difficulties if the opponent actually landed on him and wore him down instead of getting outboxed and trying haymakers
Douglas is at another notch skill & fluidity wise in my book. I don't think it takes the Tokyo version to outscore Ike, gimme any <240lb version to get it done.
To be fair, I thought his KO of Byrd was pretty impressive. No one was doing that to Byrd at the time.
A fighter who automatically 'destroys' Douglas would be at the ATG level. Frankly I think Douglas is better than Ike.
I don't know what you mean by, "automatically," but I do know Ike would've beaten Douglas. Whether or not he, "destroys," him, I agree, is up for debate.
'Ike is EXTREMELY overrated, but he's at least as good as a prime Evander Holyfield & way better than Tokyo Mike Tyson or Oliver McCall'.
Okay so Buster's best night was right after his father's death against a sleep walking unmotivated bored lazy out of shape Tyson who probablly stayed up all night fucking Asian hookers. So in other words you gotta be fair so take that emotional has something to prove Buster and put him not against Tua Ike not against Byrd Ike put him in against Ike on HIS best night. Ike's best night would be the crazy motherfucker who beat up hookers drove cars with kids in them into houses, attacked his sparring partners. Set fires to pre schools, tortured stray cats put that crazy PEAK Ike against the emotional Dougals and Ike would fucking stomp him. Crazy Rage over Sadness anyday.
You guys don't think Ike would've beaten the Tokyo Tyson? I think he would've. I agree that Douglas' jab keeps him alive, but getting stopped is still a possibility.
I don't think top class fights are decided by emotional states. Take any late 80s-early 90s Douglas you like who weighs >235 and any Ike you like. Douglas was just more fluid, more versatile and straight up better.
Ibeabuchi has to be one of THE most sickeningly over-rated figures in the sport's history. However, unlike most other boxers with over-blown reps, this guy got essentially nothing done, hasnt fought in nearly fifteen years, and is STILL being talked about. Now hes beating a guy who, but for one lonesome uppercut, shut out an arguable all-time great in their prime (spare me the excuses, Tyson was in his prime, distracted or not) en route to savagely KOing him? Nobody...EVER...gives a shit about Tua or Byrd UNTIL Ibeabuchi's name surfaces. Then, they're suddenly gate-keepers to legend-status.
Yeah, but people are concluding Douglas is better based on his victory over an underprepared, lackadaisical Tyson. Granted, that Tyson was still a formidable opponent. But not so formidable that we can draw the conclusion that Douglas would've beaten Ibeabuchi. As much as people say Ibeabuchi is overrated, Douglas was really a one-hit wonder. Ibeabuchi proved that he could box and bang, he was versatile and about as complete a fighter as you could ask for from a heavyweight. You guys are acting like Douglas was the first coming of Lennox Lewis, or something..
In 1997, there were few who were better at slugging than Tua, and there were few who were more elusive than Byrd. Ibeabuchi slugged with Tua and hunted down Byrd. How many heavyweights have there been that were capable of doing both of those things?
