I would make this at MW, but McClellan had the day before weigh-in advantage, so we'll just make this at LHW so the G-Man doesn't have to cut weight.

Same day weigh in and McClellan is a light heavy, while Dick Tiger is at best a SMW. Tiger is obviously the better fighter, but they don't really belong in the ring together.

That was back when SMW didn't exist, wasn't it? Also during the same day weigh in era, besides. McClellan was bigger as a middle than Tiger was as a light heavy.

if the 5 pounds or so McClellan might have as an advantage here can make a difference against the enormous gulf in class between these two men, that's the story of the century

Unless McClellan weighed 195, he's not winning, because he was not that good

Yeah, he weighed 167 lbs (according to boxrec) when he won the light heavy title, which was toward the end of his career as well.

It'd be closer to 10 lbs, coupled with the fact that Tiger was not at his best weight. Nevertheless, I don't dispute that it's possible or even likely the gulf in class overcomes the gulf in size here.

Tiger, but G-Man has the style and tools to make it entertaining.
