Terminator 2...when he is lowered into the lave and puts up a thumbs up....it gets me everytime I weep like a baby....just the other year I ran into a terminator from the future telling me something about needing me to save the human race and to come with him if I wanted to live....but I didn't...I just didn't....I'd rather not live then live and have him lower himself into lava and just dissapear from my life forever...i just didn't wanna get attached. ..it would just break my heart....Sorry guys about not saving the world and all.

For some reason I didn't find The Green Mile sad...AT ALL!

John Cofey wanted to die. He had nothing left on this Earth to look forward to. Dying was his way out of emotional pain.

By the way let me add:

    The Sixth Sense!

The Sixth Sense was heart wrenching indeed.

The last scene in Gladiator was powerful.

Sleepers I thought was a pretty sad ending too.

seriously, rose was a slut, she slept with a guy within days of meeting him, and while she was engaged to somebody else (and this was back in 1912). even if they'd both survived she would have just dropped jack like a bad habit: she'd had her fun "slumming it" with the boy from the other side of the tracks. a few weeks in some grotty hovel would have sent her running back to the debutante's ball. hopefully jack's exploits with the parisian prostitutes meant that rose contracted some kind of STD which stayed with her all her life.

the movie is of course a tacit promotion of class oppression (while posing as the opposite): rich bitch has her fun with the poor boy and goes for a couple of jigs below decks with the irish scumbags (how daring of her!), then lets the poor guy die while she rests on a big piece of wood. surely they could have switched places every few minutes? then she probably marries some other rich guy and has a load of rich trust fund kids, then gets together with some other rich people a hundred years later (excavating the titanic is an obviously redundant bourgeois project) to thrill them with her tale of "i once sucked a lumpenproletariat's dick!"

    What? Never understood this.

Maybe everyone who says this are distracted by the Love story. Man I'm focussed on the DISASTER itself:

    "Iceberg RIGHT AHEAD"
Preference given to the 1st class
The breach of the first 5 cabins and the scientific reasons for the sinking
    The drama of the sinking

I love it. The love story is an afterthought for me.

Saddest movie ending I ever saw was "Hereafter".

Mainly because it made me cry when I realized Clint Eastwood and Matt Damon has just conned me out of 50 bucks by convincing me to take my family to a movie theater to see this dreadful piece of shit.

    :shit:

He deserved to die. I have no time for clumbsy mindless bastards that kill people because of their stupidity. You do society a favour when you get rid of them.

Another sad one was Terms of Endearment. A mother of two young kids slowly dying before her time. Seeing those kids go through that is very tough to watch.

I'm with Sly on this one. I didnt find Of Mice and Men sad at all.

Lenny had to die. He was a HUGE danger to those around him.

With John Coffey it was different. Coffey was beneficial to others, and would never hurt a fly (or a mouse in that case). But was internally tortured with the pain he carried inside.

    word.

With Coffey...his death wasn't sad in that he wanted to die....for the reasons that you mentioned.
