Oh wait. We already know what happens: Castillo wins a decision but gets robbed, and then makes it close in the second.
I actually thought that fight was a robbery. At the time I was more a Floyd fan than Castillo, but I still thought Castillo won clear. Castillo was the champ, Castillo was the aggressor, Castillo landed the meatier blows and at least as many of them etc etc. Pretty clear fight for Castillo imo. Floyd won the rematch clearly, I'll give you that.
Castillo won a close fight the first time. The rematch was clearly won by Floyd . The funny part is if they never fought you guys would say Floyd wins 12-0
You can argue for a contentious Castillo decision but 'robbery's outwith what's reasonable. I had it to Floyd by 3 and as i might have mentioned a couple times down the years im not a big fan
I had it Castillo by 2 both times I scored it. I generally don't throw around the word "robbery", close fights are often hard to score. This though was for me a fight that was close but clear. I can't see it as a Floyd win, especially given that Castillo was the champ, I think robbery is apt. I don't think Floyd did enough to beat the champ.
The middle third was decisively JLC's but too much bookmarking that was him pressuring and controlling the ring but not landing. I really can't see 7 rounds you could give him. 5 sure, 6 at a push if you were a total pressure fanatic like Lederman.....7? I'd love to know which ones somebody who scored it for JLC actually gave him so i could rewatch
Yup. It's a crock of dollop when folk to claim all the fights he's failed to make above lightweight these last SEVEN YEARS were formalities.
Though to be fair my legit MM pick would be '8-4 Floyd' which was what it was when Floyd had two good hands.
1. 8-4 is a lot different than 12-0 2. 8-4 is hardly a cut and dry take on what happened; for example, a case can easily be made for a 7-5.
Agreed. That's why fighters actually fight rather than simply discuss who would win. You simply never know what's going to happen in the ring until they fight. My MM prediction would probably be 9-3 Floyd, yet I think Castillo won the first fight. Some of the MM's people think are gimme's for Floyd at 140/147 are fights he would lose.
"so and so was the champ" is horse shit. whoever wins more rounds and/or scores more points in the 12 rounds of the fight by landing the better punches and more of those punches is who wins. there is no champ when the bell rings. if you think castillo won more rounds then fine, but lets not base it on some bullshit 'take the title from the champ' premise.
To some extent I agree, even if someone is fighting defensively but winning rounds clear, you can't argue with that. In this instance though it just exacerbates the notion that Floyd didn't deserve the decision. Castillo was the aggressor and the champ, and won more rounds, yet still lost the decision.
A draw would be acceptable, there's probably 1 more round I could see giving to Floyd. I just can't see 7 though. And I agree, the second one was clear for Floyd.
Hut marks the first occasion Ive seen someone score the first bout CLEAR against Castillo. I could not find seven Mayweather rounds as a fan (as I was at the time) or a detractor (as I am today).
Yes, we all know Castillo is the greatest fighter ever because he arguably beat a handicapped Floyd Mayweather Jr who he outweighed by 15 lbs. Based on that, he'd KO Hearns, right? FWIW Floyd fought cautiously in the rematch because he was protecting his "W" - "win this time, look good next time" as Merchant said. If Floyd has two good hands in the first fight, the rematch never happens and the first fight wouldn't have looked the same. I'm a big Castillo fan, but you really are delusional.
Castillo won that fight. But, but, Floyd was completely injured in that fight. He had little use of both hands. In spite of what the Jockacracy might say, having diminished use of both arms in a prize fight is a valid excuse for non-performance. It was pretty clear that skilless bum was better than Mayweather at 40% percent. P. S. :Castillo was a skilless bum. Fuck him.
This AGAIN???:scared:.... Floyd-Castillo I was Close but Most Definitely NOT "Clear" for EITHER Combatant...115-113 Type of Decision, Either Way...Let it GO, Doub.... Also, Neil is CORRECT when he States that there ISN'T a 'Champion' when the Bell Rings....The 2 Fighters R VYing for the Championship...During the Bout, the Belt is in the Hands of a State Commissioner on a NEUTRAL Side of the Ring.... REED:Lok:
Call me old fashioned but I think when fighting a champ or in another guy's hometown, at least take the fight to him. Fight to win and take that belt.
