[IMG]Mark Munoz's shot at UFC gold will have to wait.

UFC president Dana White today announced via Twitter an injury has forced Munoz to withdraw from a planned UFC on FOX 2 meeting with Chael Sonnen (26-11-1 MMA, 5-4 UFC), who now meets British slugger Michael Bisping (22-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) instead.

The two clash on the FOX televised main card of this month's "UFC on FOX 2: Evans vs. Davis" event, which takes Jan. 28 at Chicago's United Center.

"Munoz is injured and out of the FOX fight," White posted via Twitter. "Now it's Chael Sonnen vs. Mike Bisping Jan. 28, and the winner will fight Anderson for the title."

Bisping, who recently served as a coach on "TUF 14," had been expected to face Demian Maia (15-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC). The Brit dominated fellow coach Jason "Mayhem" Miller at December live finale in Las Vegas. He ultimately scored a third-round TKO victory of Miller, who quickly faded in the five-round non-title fight. Bisping has now won four straight fights and five of his past six (all in the UFC).

The one and ONLY time I am going to root for Bisping. Yes, I hate Sonnen that much.

    :scratcher: hmmm. Juicer vs douchebag.

I like Sonnen's personality so much more, but I hate PED's with a passion.

So long as the winner doesn't beat Anderson, I guess I can live with either guy winning this fight, but I guess I'll also go with the douchebag. At least, afaik, Bisping has earned the shot rather than cheated to get it.

Juicer or not, I can't root for Bisping. I am very disappointed. I wanted Munoz to crack Sonnen's skull and I wanted Maia to twist off at least two of Bispings limbs.

    It's a lose-lose situation!

Bisping would have kicked Maia's ass, but he will get smashed by Sonnen.

Woo-hoo!!! Bisping will lose this. Guaranteed. Sonnen wants a rematch with Silva. I don't know if he thinks he can beat him, but it is a big cash cow that he has been building towards.

    I hope that either:

A- Sonnen beat the living shit out of Bisping.

B- if Bisping wins, Silva beats the living shit out of Bisping.

How good is this replacement bout for the 3rd fight on the Fox broadcast portion of this card:

    Damian Maia versus Chris Weidman

In typical UFC fashion, they pluck the absolute hottest prospect in the MW division to step in to fight Maia. Weidman is a D-1 wrestler with very solid BJJ as he trains with Matt Serra. He is also a huge MW at 6'2" and will have a 4' reach advantage on Maia.

Again, there is no cush developmental stage in a UFC career. Weidman gets thrown in with a Top 10 guy after only 7 fights. And it's no easy task for Maia. In my opinion, this is every bit as tough a fight as Bisping would have been.

As big as the UFC's first fight on FOX missed, this card should absolutely hit. Great match-ups.

neither is a really boring fighter. Most of Sonnen's UFC fights were pretty high in entertainment value.

Sonnen is a boring wrestler, he's as boring as any other pure wrestler. I don't get where people think he's exciting. Get the Silva fight out of your heads, or better yet, go watch it again and tell me how exciting it is knowing what happens in the end. The fight itself was boring, the excitement came from the fact that Silva was losing rounds.

Bisping is not boring, he is just feather fisted and can barely hurt anyone. He's very active though and rarely in boring fights.

Dude, you couldn't be more right about the Silva-Sonnen fight. It was fun live because you had no idea what was going to happen.

It has the rewatchability factor of the mating ritual of the South African Albino Field Slug.

The silva fight is still fun because it wasnt just wrestling. Sonnen was landing repeated punches to the ground. I posted the whole fight here a few weeks back with the intention of just watching the first round. I ended up watching the whole fight.

I have never seen a more average fighter get so many oppurtunities for title shots like Bisping does. Its so blatantly pathetic by White and the UFC.

I don't recall any of his losses being title eliminators or title shots. He's pretty much been as protected as he can be.

Well, he's not fed total cans, but you can bet your ass Dana doesn't want him losing since he's the UK poster boy for the UFC.

I think Bisping could lose more times than he has and those brits will still support him. They arent that use to winning over there. Bisping has one of the most brutal KOs ever by one of the oldest fighters in the game and he is still oved.

I'm not the greatest at history, guess I could look it up, but wasn't his loss to Rashad Evans a title eliminator at 205? I am pretty sure Rashad got the title shot out of it. His fight against Hendo was a title eliminator, but Hendo left for SF after KTFO Bisping because the UFC wanted to restructure his deal. I could definitely be wrong on this one, but I swear Dana said if Bisping beats Wandy, Bisping gets a shot at Anderson. That one is kind of gray, not sure. Now if he beats Sonnen, he gets a shot at Anderson. I wouldn't say the guy has been protected, I really don't think there are any slouches or cupcakes to pad a guy's resume in the UFC, but IMO, he is constantly shoved down our throats as a title contender.

His fight against evans wasnt a title eliminator because evans fought chuck after that and then fought Forrest.

As for Wandy, i am not sure about that one either. After Wandy beat Bisping, he fought leben.

I have an extreme dislike for Bisping, so I am very biased when it comes to posting about him, lol, but I can't disagree with you. I had to look it up, :scared2: I always feel like Dana just shoves him into mainevents he doesn't deserve and shots he doesn't deserve. But like I said, I'm biased
