The sad ending thread made me look at the scene from seven again. It's one of my favorite scenes of all time. Great acting by everyone. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/1giVzxyoclE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Because when somebody decapitates your wife with your unborn child inside of her you're not thinking ,you're acting and it was beautifully shown how the mental picture of her crosses his mind and then that's that. Wrath takes over.
Hello! He wasn't sad enough, IN FACT he was kinda amused by the whole thing. Which is why he took mercy on spacey and gave him a quick death.
Wrath takes over, causing you to dispassionately execute someone in an impersonal fashion? A couple bullets to the head is how a financial beef is settled or an assassination is carried out. There's no satisfaction in it, no personal connection, no suffering involved. Also, Pitt's acting in that movie was SHIT.
What was Dispassionate about it???... Dude is BUSTING @ the Seams Emotionally & he has his Cohort Begging & Pleading w/him to NOT Shoot John Doe...& Even After he's Blown Doe's Brains Out, Pitts Character Shoots his Prone Body a Few MORE Times Anyways...That's "Dispassionate" to You???... If/When U Find Out that a Loved 1 has Perished, @ the Hands of Another, the IMMEDIATE Thought is Retribution...In Pitt's Case, he Finds Out Mere SECONDS Before he Kills the Guy & Reacts Almost Immediately...It was Spur of the Moment; NO Time to Think, Calculate or Devise a Way of Punishing Doe, Other than to Use the Weapon he ALREADY had Drawn on him to Begin w/... REED:kidcool:
Not Sure HOW U Could Say That... Throughout the Film, John Doe was OFFing People Based on HIS Interpretation of the 7 Deadly Sins...Doe Himself Took Care of the Gluttony, gREED, Sloth, Lust & Pride Sins...He Confessed to Pitt that he was ENVIOUS of his Life & OFFed his Wife & Unborn Child as a Result... To Which, a (Rightfully) Revenge Minded Pitt Made Doe Feel his WRATH, by Blowing his Brains Out... Makes Perfect Sense... REED:Lok:
An absolutely amazing scene. I don't know how emptying a clip in John Doe's head isn't a pefect reaction.
A gun is an impersonal way to kill and an easy way to die. Someone who awoke my bloodlust to that extent would never get off as easy as a quick and painless death. There's no satisfaction in it, especially when you know that's what John Doe wants anyway. Fuck not having time to think, if he really wasn't thinking and in full on rage mode, he wouldn't sit there and calmly squeeze off a few rounds with an unwavering hand. He'd toss the gun aside and go for John Doe's throat. Also, his not shooting himself (with that particular ending) made the film ending incomplete.
That was one of the most fucked up endings to a movie, this side of The Mist. Very good movie and the scene was well done. Check out what the scene originally was supposed to be. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_(film)#Planned_scripted_ending
