When you're sweating off those last few pounds in the sauna it happens sometimes. Seriously, it doesn't mean he wasn't having weight issues.
I agree, that coming in a pound under doesn't mean you had no trouble, it can mean you simply sweated off a pound too much. But the guys who have real trouble making weight, don't make weight. I disagree about the weigh in pics btw. That's normal for a weigh in. Boxers are undernourished and dehydrated at weigh ins, you don't really expect them to look perfect do you :dunno: Drained is like Morales in some of his 122/126 weigh in, or Rios recently for example.
We actually don't know, and it's just a guess that he sweated off too much at the last minute. There is certainly no fact to that. Coming in under the limit is not a sign of a guy having trouble making weight.
Yeah I don't think there's any comparison with Cotto and Ortiz. Ortiz is and always has been a front runner and doesn't have the toughness nor the skill to be good, let alone great. Cotto at the very least will come to fight and I think he'll be more competitive with Floyd than most think. I still think he'll lose a UD but he'll give it a good effort.
Stand still, look to the side, and have no idea that I threw a left hook followed by a straight right hand. Let's see where you end up... The fight will SELL, but everyone and their brother know the outcome.
When it's two years later and the only fight in the sport that matters hasn't been made because of purest bullshit - pretty much yeah
Yep, I am pissed with Floyd because he didn't allow it to be at the Garden. I am pissed with HBO because they didn't force him. They just want their PPV revenues. What about an event, an occasion, a bit of fervour? Duran went into the lions den in 1983 and WON THE NEW YORKERS OVER!!! Then they sang Happy Birthday to him. Boxing needs events.
The Garden is ALWAYS a fucking option. Just not for the stupid date they insist on. Fuck Floyd and his jail issues. Does boxing work around them or do they work around boxing??? You know it as well as I do....Floyd vs Cotto is BS, but at the Garden its a half-an-event and we all might enjoy it. WORK IT OUT. Thats what these managers and advisers are paid to do. Its what we pay event managers for, its what we pay HBO for.
There is every chance of this- Floyd was always better, has slipped less, matches up stylewise better and has no beatings under his belt. His absence from the game means he has accrued less and less damage over time. He's just a better fighter who has aged less and aged better.
even aside from time off. he just dosn't get hit much it's funny peopel talk abotu Shane rocking him. that fight was impressive.. Floyd took it, took it well, recovered quickly and dominated. Floyd over the years just is slippery and doesn't get hit a whole lot.
He's a great defensive fighter, no two ways about it. Of course, Cotto beat a better Shane, and thus has a great resume worthy of a fight with Floyd.
