Anybody feeling an upset? The more I watch Perez the more shocked I become that HBO and team Broner took this fight.

Perez has excellent speed, power in both hands, good defence and is a very accurate puncher. Broner is in for a tough night on the 25th.

Perez has only 7 ko's in 23 fights. He's quick, but Broner's got speed too and power and is the naturally bigger guy here. He may struggle with Perez' speed a little, but I expect Perez to get countered ALOT and Broner will land big shots eventually that will discourage Perez. This won't go the distance.

Maybe Perez will do like Ponce De Leon did and beat Broner.

I'm actually shocked there isn't a rematch between those two. I actually thought De Leon won that fight. But oh well.

Perez has been a lot more aggressive in his past several fights. He realized his style (and far too laid-back demeanor) wasn't getting him anywhere and has stepped it up

I can see an upset here, BUT don't believe it will have anything to do with power. Eloy's best shot is mauling Broner and making the fight as ugly as possible. Do just enough to get his punches off, and then deny Broner the opportunity to get going.

I'm genuinely undecided on both fights, which of course is a good thing.

Im expecting Alexander to get steam rolled by Maidana. Maidana must know that he has no chance to win a decision.

The question is, which Chino shows up. He has to come out early and just throw (and hopefully land) at will. That was Matthysse's undoing - in fact, against both Alexander and Judah.

A part of me would like to see Devon put on a clinic here, to get people off his back about hometown decisions and also to put an end to the myth that Chino is the baddest dude on the planet. I'm fine with whatever comes of the fight. as long as the ending is conclusive.

It's only a 10 rounder. Thats great news for Devon.

Was that not Chino in there beating the hell out of Khan, Morales and Ortiz?

How about the myth that Alexander actually beat Mathysse? I'd like to see that one dispelled.

I missed the fight where he beat the hell out of Morales.

Yes, he had Khan badly hurt and made Ortiz quit. He's a tough guy, I don't dispute that. I just tend to think his toughness is greatly exaggerated. S

He really did give him a sound beating in the later rounds. He won the fight clearly. He blinded him in one eye for a full half-hour and the left-downstairs was doing real damage. Its the worst non-weight-related hiding Morales ever took, and it isn't mitigated by the fact that it was the worst embarrassment Maidana ever experienced in winning a fight. Breaking another guys nose never fixed ones own.

thanks Jimmy. I've run several briefs on Perez in the past couple of months, figured I was due for a full feature on Broner.

I forget if they've since mentioned the names, but it was said during a conference call last week that neutral judges will be used for this fight, and that the referee will be Steve Smoger.

IIRC, the judges are from England, Connecticut and Puerto Rico.

I hate the term neutral judges. They still will score every round for Bradley.

Never seen Perez fight but I hear he trained in Garcia's gym. Even Rios is hating Broner now apparently. :giggle:

Rios - Broner would be a funny fight promotion. Both guys are cocky and act stupid.

havent seen perez enough to form an opinion. i dont think too highly of broner so i was kinda surprised perez was such a sizable underdog. not easy to decision a haymon fighter, though.

    You mean Alexander, right?

And yes, I hear you. Seems more so with the referees, especially overseas. Always talks of an unbiased neutral judge... only for it to be Cortez, Geno Rodriguez, Randy Neumann, etc. - guys who seem well aware of where they are and who's paying the bills

I think Broner is a young star in the making. Wonna see him tested to see how he responds to adversity. However he did what he had to. Don't think the lead right hand he landed was all that special. I think that Perez didn't want to fight anymore. Overall IMO a very good scrap! I'll Holla 5000
