Pacquiao isn't faultless but he shouldn't be expected to take a $40m cut from a potential $200m.

Potential but not guaranteed. I hear what you are saying, but this is teh point.

He'd be guaranteed 40M. That's bigger than any purse in history by a long shot.

you do realize that the ppv distributor takes 50% off the top of the ppv sales?

A $50 million guarantee for Floyd is more money than he's ever made. Why wouldn't he accept that as well as the 55-45 split for the winner?

That's more money than he's made as well.

This is terribly faulty logic. What if the fight stood to make $1 Billion? And Floyd guaranteed Pac $50 million? Should he take that because it would be his biggest purse ever?

Pacquiao's draw is an integral component of how much the fight makes, period. About half based on Pac/Floyd PPV numbers in the past. Thus if Pac brings 50% of the money to the event, how can you possibly justify him taking less than 50% of the total fight purse?

That is like 2 kids selling lemonade, they both sell like demons and make $500 each. Then the asshole kid takes all the money ($1000) and gives the other kid his "guaranteed" $100.

"Well it's more than you had before, kid."

    I mean really.

Even more stupid is the fact that this logic can be directly turned around and if Pac were juvenile enough to offer Floyd the exact same thing, Floyd should take that because it's bigger than any purse in history. Why only apply this logic to just one fighter?

Plus it's not bigger than any purse in history anyway, unless in addition to the $40 million guarantee there were other upsides for Pac. ODLH netted more than $50 million as I recall for his fight with Floyd. Another reason this is so absurd. The fight will generate the most revenue ever for a PPV, but Floyd will come away with an historic take and Pac won't. No one could reasonably expect Pac to accept this, and certainly Floyd didn't, which was the entire purpose of the offer.

What does that have to do with Mayweather trying to short change Manny? You think Floyd won't walk with more than 40 million?

Do you guys copy and paste shit that Mayweather said? You sound just like him.

manny did say he would take a smaller cut because he is the peoples champ and the people wanna see it. anyway by luck this could make the fight bigger for me. may vs pac coming off a loss to jmm or may vs pac coming off a win, especially a young fighter in his prime would make me more interested at least. pac has looked great agaisnt washed up drained fighters in between his 2 losses with jmm

None of this is relevant anyway. Bradley is probably going to beat Pacquiao in June. A shame.

He could, but I doubt it. He's too easy to hit and he's not that good a counter puncher. If he's not leading he will lose.

if the fight happens i doubt pacquiao makes much more than 40 million dollars. i doubt he makes 40 million dollars vs bradley and i doubt he has ever seen 30 million dollars for any fight thus far in his career. bottom line here is mayweather jr cut ties with arum and has been earning far larger purses than pacquiao has facing the same opposition.

They've both being prima-donna assholes during this whole sad debacle.

Thing is, as Jake wrote about and I agree with, the fight probably wasn't gonna happen anyway in May. Just more bullshit through the media. Floyd was winning the PR battle, then his ego managed to kill phony negotiations.

For it to be that loud the whole arena was loudly booing the decision. I don't ever recall a decision so badly accepted.

This. And the $200m I think is only scratching the domestic surface. What about the rest of the world?!?!?!! PPV distributors will take their fill, certainly, but the pot is bigger than $200m, imo.

If this offer was true then it's more on Floyd imo... he offered it knowing pacquiao would turn it down. Pacquiao is every bit as big a draw as Floyd now and no way he accepts an offer with no PPV %.

I can't be sure of exact amounts, but isn't it true that Floyd could offer a much better deal to Pac and still himself get more money than they have ever seen before for a fight?

Why do you think so Steve?

I've always been a Bradley believer, he's underrated, but I'm not sure he's good enough to beat even this version of Pacquiao.

I think Floyd is winning here- not through any magnificence or design of his own- but he is winning, for two simple reasons: 1. Pacquaio is deteriorating faster than Floyd, for multiple reasons which don't need to be explained or fleshed out. 2. Pacquaio isn't exactly JP Morgan on the financial front. He is eventually going to run out of cash in any case and need to make the fight. When he does, he'll lose- assuming he hasn't lost in the interim.

Why does any other fight purse matter? This is far bigger than any fight, possibly the biggest PPV fight ever. Floyd won't make the same money facing Cotto as he would facing Manny, and that's a fact.

If it's such a great deal for Pac, why won't Floyd accept 50-50? According to you goons it's the same thing right? He won't make more than the guarantee anyway. What a fucking joke.

Yep, can't disagree with that Irish.

BTW Irish in regards to Pacquiao delicing more than Floyd, physically I'd say they're at a similar level of decline compared to their peak, it's just that Floyd's style is far more suited to slowing down a bit.

Pacman has the quintessential young man's style, that relies on being fearless and balls to the wall too in addition to having overwhelming workrate, speed, reactions etc.

Floyd is sneaky, clever, defensive and cautious in the ring - like Hopkins, he'll be a highly effective for a very long time imo.

Precisely. Floyd also started at 130, and was great at 135lbs, which gives him more time at 147, whereas Pac is basically a 122lbr or a 126lbr to Floyds 135lbr.

Floyd is a sniper, Manny is more open, so it stands to reason Floyd at 40 would have more than Manny.

Also, Floyd has had those years off. They always help.

Sure, avoid the fact that you idiots will defend anything Floyd does. I will place blame on Pac where it's due, you will never even consider any of it Mayweather's fault.

    $2 Billion!

    What about $2 Billion bucks?

I'd be willing to shell out $279.95 for this bout on my 17" inch B&W Vizio.

Who's with me besides Alabama Man?

If Pac isnt getting any PPV money he should decline to do any publicity for the fight whatsoever, INCLUDING 24/7. Let's see how that plays out.
