Nathan Cleverly has promised to be the model professional ahead of his WBO light-heavyweight title defence and restore class back into British boxing.

Cleverly fights American Tommy Karpency on Saturday and he wants to repair boxing's reputation after the Dereck Chisora and David Haye controversy.

They clashed in a press conference after Vitali Klitschko beat Chisora in a WBC heavyweight title bout in Munich.

Cleverly said: "People are going to be looking for people to lead by example."

The Welshman added: "I have a chance to do that, conduct myself in a professional manner as always and leave my talking for inside the ring not outside."

I'm not sure about Cleverly yet, seems a decent stand-up sort of boxer-puncher, and seems also to have a decent chin. Needs seasoning and refinement. He should be too much for the Tommy Karpency's of this world. He can take Cloud if he steps it up.

WBO LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP - NATHAN CLEVERLY v TOMMY KARPENCY
Venue: Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff Date: Saturday, 25 February Bill starts: 1900 GMT

Coverage: Live on BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru & online. Watch on BoxNation

Bellew is a decent fighter and a legitimate puncher, he fought at Heavyweight as an amateur and was laying guys out. I mean laying them out.

He's caught between divisions- probably not big enough to be a legitimate 200lb Cruiser and too big to be a 175lb Light Heavy. He's dead at the weight.

I didn't think Cleverly would beat him, I thought Bellew would catch him and take him out. Cleverly might be better than I thought he was- I am generally wary of the "Next So-And-So" {the next Joe Calzaghe in this case, Amir Khan was the next Naseem Hamed, Adamek the next Golota etc etc etc} but Cleverly might be truth, and after the Campillo fight, who knows, he MIGHT be in a position to assert himself.

Needs to beat Karpency next tho.

:scared: Nervous?... Karpency sounds like a cheap laugh in a farside cartoon, ...let's be honest,... you've never, EVER heard of him before. :crafty:

I'm always nervous. The thin "red" line is stretched, stretched thinner than Vitali's eye skin, stop your dreaming, can't you see their spear points gleaming??? Welshmen shall not yield!!!!! Of course I have not heard of him, another faceless heathen off the Savage Steppe!!!

Whoever you are playing nice doesn't cut it in a sport where there is no such thing as bad publicity. They love you they order pay per view. They hate you they order the pay par view. It's not that hard you fucking idiots. Learn to market yourselves.
