Reap what you sow!!! This Jew has balls. He'll charge Bute mad interest. He might not get his principle back, but he'll bleed the bitch on interest. Nothing personal of course, what with you being the Jonah Hill of fightbeat and all.athetic::bow:
Massive step up for Bute. Froch is going to bring a lot more than Andrade did. Although he's improved a lot i'm still not 100% sold on Bute's stamina and ability to handle steady pressure. If he wins this one i think he can be considered for real.
I can't wait, but I have a bad feeling 'bout this though. Bute has the advantage in handspeed and Froch could get caught a great deal coming in.
This is proof that promoters in every country but the United States truly get it. Make the fight, worry about the network later. Can't wait for this fight. I get Showtime's point that in a three-fight contract, they want Bute's last fight actually come against the WINNER of the Super Six (Ward) not the loser. But for that, they should've rejected his other two fights (Magee, Johnson). They had no problem greenlighting a fight against the loser of a Super Six semfinal, so the logic here falls short. Their loss. Surprised and disappointed that HBO has no desire to pick it up. Bute could easily be groomed as a future opponent for any of the light heavyweights they continue to showcase.
Still don't realize why this isn't on Showtime after having Froch on the super 6 and having Bute signed to a multi fight deal. I got Froch to win this fight.
Um... I just explained it :: Bute has one fight left on his Showtime deal. They want it to be against Ward, to justify having signed him to a three-fight deal in the first place. If he fights Froch, there's nothing to stop him from bolting afterward and never fighting Ward (or at least not on Showtime). That's why I said, I understand their reason for rejecting the fight but the road leading to that point is where they've severely fumbled the snap.
I hope this Epix outfit get their act together and become a cheap viable alternative for US fight-fans. This is a decent fight and won't do their reputation any harm. As for the fight itself, I fancy Bute, just. Bute is not Eamon Magee.
Not so fast Jake.....:: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bendirs/2012/03boxing_fights_on_regardless.html The main beef the public have with the sport is the best not fighting the best. "In football, Manchester United play Arsenal two or three times a year," said BBC boxing commentator Mike Costello. "In tennis, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer play each other all the time. In boxing, natural matches just aren't happening." Hart gave the example of Tyson Fury v David Price, a potential domestic classic that recently fell through after Fury chose to vacate his British heavyweight crown rather than defend against former Olympic medallist Price. Ironically it was television, so often cited as boxing's potential saviour, that nixed it. Mark Sharman, who took the sport to Channel 5, the only terrestrial station currently showing live professional boxing, confirmed this. He explained that having invested in the "Tyson Fury story", had Fury lost his belt on Sky, where Price fights, "Channel 5 risked the story being dead". Throw in the modern obsession with unbeaten records, the proliferation of governing bodies and individual governing bodies with more than one world champion, and you have a narrative that is more difficult to follow than Ulysses.
I want to go to this fight. I'll have to be quick off the mark getting tickets. They'll sell out in no time at all.
Yeah, if it was in Chelsea I might go :kidcool: Surprised it's in England by the way, I would have thought Boot's camp would be all "Canada or nothing".
Don't blame Showtime at all, one fight left after funding two relatively straightforward defences against Magee and Johnson (never shared others' enthusiasm about this), why would they sacrifice the Ward fight for one which is far more stylistically favourable for Bute? Having said that, given that they are contuning to suppoirt clapped out Jermain Taylor and TBAs for Russell Jr., anything is possible
Yeah, if it was somewhere good I'd seriously consider going, but I'm not spending 100s of pounds for a weekend in Nottingham.
60/40 is not how we roll anymore son. Its a Global Bidness now. Its WORLD Champeenship boxing. 1999 is a long long time ago. Although Roy did finally see the light, traveling to Russia and Australia.
This right here is what is wrong with boxing today. Half a dozen or more top guys punch holes in one another, trading belts and ultimately coming to a conclusive result in terms of who is best, yet this fucking nonce sits around at home, pays referees to administer ridiculous counts when he is practically KO-ed, fights total chumps and is proclaimed No.1 by something supposedly as credible as boxrec and other boxing magazines. It's disgusting and is why I sincerely hope that the farmer puts him on ice. MTF
