i booked a flight/room and got tickets to this fight, but honestly i cant knock gamboa if he pulls out because of whatever issues he has. he is the one taking all the risk here and if he's getting 700Gs but has to break this guy Oner off with a large percentage then it really isnt worth it. If Mayweather jr is in his ear claiming he can offer him more money then this will probably result in a lengthy legal battle and subsequent layoff for gamboa.

If the guy were somehow to become free then i could see him getting more than 700Gs as a undercard to Mayweather jr - Alvarez later this year or more likely next may, vs Broner.

People who do this generally end up worse off. It didn't work for Povetkin , it didn't work for Angulo and it probably won't work for Gamboa- unless Gamboa genuinely didn't sign a contract in the first place.

So he is holding out for more money then??? Could be a smart move- if he finally intends signing and is in training still.

I wouldn't put it past him. Sell the tickets, brow beat the young man into signing some shit after-the-fact, on the premise that "You'll never fight again in this town" etc etc.

Interesting, so he ditched Garcia, signed up with Steward, and almost immediately ditched him and started training with Roger?

That's really weird, because Roger could end up training both Gamboa and Rios :kidcool:

Agreed, it doesn't make sense, who starts selling tickets before both contracts are signed?

HBO have been advertising this fight. Gamboa can kiss his career goodbye if he doesn't fight Rios on the 14th of April.

This isn't uncommon. I don't think most fighters sign the offical bout agreement until just before the fight. There are usually tentative agreements but the final bout agreements aren't signed that far in advance.

In fairness, LA is a toilet, his not showing might not mean much, other than that he dislikes LA, which would be a major + to his name.

Can't say I am too sorry for Rios either, anyone who beats up guys via their own sizable weight advantage, or makes light of serious rule infringements, is a scum-fuck of the very worst sort. Or the 2nd worst sort, if you let Hut tell you :shadow:

Gamboa to be paid $1.1M plus 100G's if he won. This is crazy.

I read that Gamboa's purse was $700,000 with 100 for the winner!
