I say it comes down to Foreman and Lemmon in the final. Kind of a toss up. I can see Lemmon stinking out the joint winning a decision. Tyson winds up at the bottom of the pile here. Even at his best I think he has issues with Lemmon and Foreman. Both would intimidate him. Tyson vs Holmes would have been a great fight in their respective primes. I'm not sure Larry hit hard enough to keep Tyson honest and discouraged...Tyson had an underrated chin. Despite Larry bouncing jabs and crosses off Tyson's chin all night I think Tyson wins.
1. Lewis 2. Holmes 3. Foreman 4. Tyson Holmes-Lewis is very close and of course any fight including Foreman or Tyson can go the other way too, but this is the most likely outcome
Tough call There's a caveat for all of them Personally, I think each of the other three could beat Tyson Lewis is something of a wild card because Tyson hits so hard, especially early when he's really bringing it. Far lesser fighters than Tyson got it done against Lennox. At the same time, Lennox really on his game, sticking the jab out there using the uppercut when Tyson is close to him, etc. has all of the tools to be ideal for beating Mike... Gun to my head, I'd take Lewis I think Foreman would push Mike back, frankly. Always have. I think Larry gets off the deck to beat Mike. I wonder about Larry and George, and I wonder about both of them against Lewis... I'd probably pick George over Larry. Despite his great skill, Larry was not Ali and George wasn't Ken Norton. But would I pick George over Lewis? I don't know about that one, Lewis provides him with some problems he's not used to dealing with.
I'll take Holmes too and it would probably be him and Lewis in the final if this was a super 6 like tourney. You never know though, 80's Tyson might just stop everyone.
Give REED the 70's Foreman... STRONG as an OX, Best BEARD of the Bunch, Arguably the HARDEST Hitter & an UNDERRATED JAB...Foreman's Abilities Would Fare Better Against a WIDER RANGE of Boxing Talents, which is what a Round Robin is All About... REED:Thumbs:
Actually, the only guy I'm confident would NOT win this thing is Foreman. Holmes would have kicked Foreman's ass all over the ring. Foreman knew it, and never wanted any parts of Larry. I could also see circa 99-00 Lummox knocking Foreman out. Although, thats no gimme. Theres a very good chance George would have caught Lummox early, and flattened him. Lewis vs Holmes would be a close fight. But I think Larry wins it. Holmes' reach was just about equal to Lewis, and had a faster jab and a MUCH higher ring IQ. Tyson would have beaten any version of Holmes. I have ALWAYS said that. Mike was just too fast on his feet, and eventually would have closed the distance on Larry and taken him out. As for Foreman vs Tyson. People always call that a mismatch in George's favor, but for the life of me I don't see how its a mismatch. Listen carefully........ Mike Tyson was NOT Joe Frazier. Heart and stamina aside, Tyson was on another planet from Frazier in EVERY other way possible. Its possible that Mike would have been entirely too fast for 70's George. HOWEVER, I could also see George pushing Mike back and eventually stopping him. Not early though. Mike's chin was too good to be stopped early by ANYONE. Hell, it took Lummox 8 rounds of landing right hands to stop a washed up Mike. And its ARGUABLE if Foreman hit harder than Lummox. As for Lewis vs Tyson. I admit, its highly possible that Lummox ALWAYS had the style to beat Tyson. But I'd give prime Mike an excellent chance of bombing out Lummox within 5. If not, then Lummox would have stopped him late. I'd make Lewis a slight favorite over prime Tyson though, and it PAINS me to say that. SO, basically the winner is either gonna be Lewis, Tyson, or Holmes. However, if I absolutely HAD to pick a winner, once again it pains me to say...... I'd probably go with Lewis. Big George in all honesty is overrated, and I could see him getting knocked out by all 3.
Because of his mental state, you're probably right. He doesn't win the whole thing. But on his best night, he had the talent to beat any of the 3.
REED Thinks Foreman had a SLIGHTLY Better Chin Overall...No Way Could a 40 + Year Old Tyson Withstand the BEATINGS Foreman Sustained from Holyfield, Alex Stewart or Moorer.... REED:nono:
In OVER 80 Fights, Foreman was Stopped a Grand Total of 1 Time & Even That is Pretty Much ACCEPTED as an "Exhaustion KO"...Not Sure How U Can See him Being KO"ed by All 3 in this Scenario, Homey:dunno:... Despite Being Superior TECHNICALLY, Lennox & Holmes were BOTH Toooooo Susceptible to Being Hurt to Be Favored Over Foreman as Strongly as You Seem to Be Doing...CLEARLY, Foreman had the Ability to Take EITHER of them Out & U're Not Taking Into Consideration How Lennox & Holmes would Fare Against a Fighter who Brings a GOOD Jab to the Fight Himself... REED:dancingBaby:
I wouldn't favor Lewis over Foreman STRONGLY. But I think I would favor him. Foreman never got hit by anyone the power of Lewis. And Lummox had a pretty big edge in handspeed and technique. Holmes on the other hand, I would favor over Foreman with more confidence. George was never really suited to beat a master technician like Holmes. Even in the Jimmy Young fight. And yes, I know the Young fight wasn't George at his best, but still.... And for the record, i WOULD make Foreman a favorite over Tyson. But only slightly. Tyson was a different animal than Frazier ENTIRELY.
My only arguement is for people who think Foreman would have "destroyed" Tyson, as I disagree with this. As hard as George hit, Tyson's chin was just too good to be taken out quickly by any heavyweight in history. The shot to pieces version that lost in 4 to Danny Williams not withstanding. I think Mike would have given Foreman Hell early on, and badly hurt him. As the fight wears, I think Foreman's physical strength would take a bigger toll on Mike. Foreman in about 8 sounds right.
Tyson got put into a shell when he tasted the Lewis uppercut in 2002 in the very first round. Not even Tyson's biggest ass lickers like you saw that coming. Tyson had never felt anything like Lewis' power before. It says a lot. Tyson's chin was good but 2-3 shots from Lennox and Tyson would've backed the f*ck up! Nobody could f*ck with the Lewis uppercut and right cross.
Funny how all these Tyson fanatics think he beat the real Larry Holmes. Holmes was shot and inactive. The guy hadn't even put on a glove in almost 2 years and was almost 40 years old and hadn't recorded a victory in 3 years when he stepped in with Tyson. Nobody seems to say sh*t about that. Yet when Buster exposed Tyson's ass, the Tyson lovers are all full of excuses.:laugh11:
i AGREE. I can't see Holmes ever losing to Foreman. Holmes has always called Foreman out. Foreman wanted nothing to do with him ever. I guess I'd favor lemmon loser, but I could see him getting stopped brutally. He just has a stinky negative style that would serve him well.
