very interesting I'ts hard to rate Floyd Patterson as a light heavyweight because he was there only very early... I do believe he'd have been far less vulnerable down there, but that is all speculation He basically was a cruiserweight... I think he and Spinks is a great fight but I think he wears that 190-195 more naturally and comfortably than the lanky Spinks. I like his power and handspeed there, in addition to his fine all around skills and defense. I might be tempted to place my bet on Patterson if they fought at 190 175? Hard to say. The Floyd who actually fought there was nowhere near ready enough for a guy like Spinks. Who knows what might have been for Patterson had he stayed there? Wouldn't be anywhere near as famous, but he'd probably rank a lot higher on the historical lists
I don;t know about that. He was definitely chinny, but that was as a heavyweight fighting against other heavyweights. I think at a lower weight like 175, where he really would have been more successful and formidable, in my opinion, he would have had better resistance to punches. It's a guess, obviously, but I suspect it's probably the case.
Patterson at either weight. Patterson's weakness at heavyweight was his chin. I don't think Spinks hit hard enough at Heavyweight to have exploited that. At LightHeavyweight you'd have to believe that Patterson would be even faster... :jaw: and his punches would be even more effective... :jaw:..and so i can't see Spinks winning there either.
