I hated it years ago when I first watched it....and today I saw it again...hate it the same....HATE Tom Cruise....hate his family...hate his screaming daughter(though she did the best acting job), hate his stupid pussy ass son..hate stupid aliens, and their sorry ass immune system.... And I really tried to like it..this time around.
a typical "invasion" film... lots of special effects, ham-fisted acting, predictable turns in the fortunes of the protagonist... a yawn-inducer... a professional, huge budget film with a typically wooden performance by Cruise
IMO this is the type of film that gets better the more you see it. I wasn't even sure I liked it the first time but now it's one of those films I can watch anytime.
Pretty decent outside of the ending, and not much they could do if going by the source material. Probably didn't need a re-make. One of Spielberg's throw-aways.
I agree with you. When i first saw it, i wasnt too into it. However, i started watching it again much later and enjoyed it. Lots of small little things Spielberg does that are great in his movie making.
