Bradley doesn't have the power to hurt Pac or the speed to keep up with him. Pacquiao is going to destroy him.
So Bradley is as good technically as JMM? That cannot be what you're saying. He also fights nothing like JMM.
Come on man, JMM is a thousand times more proven than Bradley and also has a completely different style. And while I don't really mind the Bradley fight for Pacquiao - even it being at 147 - if this were Floyd fighting Bradley (at 147, especially), he'd be getting shit on by the legions of haters here. Bradley has nothing for Pac.. aside from Floyd & Marquez, I don't see a lot of other fighters in that division/ballpark who can deal with Pacquiao.
Highly unlikely, he's less gung ho than Hatton, and a bit less hittable too. At the time of Hatton/Cotto I might agree, but this version of Manny? Unless Bradley somehow lights a major fire under Manny's arse, I expect a very competitive fight.
anyone who claims to be a fan of boxing should appreciate it being performed at an excellent level. to see the two most excellent boxers pit their strengths and weaknesses against each other to prove superiority is about as entertaining as it gets. otherwise why not just watch re-runs of Gatti-Ward and clamour for a 4th Erik Morales v Barrera fight??? if the relevance means nothing and you just want entertainment.... Floyd vs. Pacquiao would be the highest level of boxing we could see in the ring in over a decade, maybe longer... if that isn't entertaining to you then you have the attention span of a gnat.
After further reflection, I tend to agree with this. I do think that Canelo had an impact on sales, and I do expect the final numbers to be a tad higher when everything is said and done... but no matter how you slice it, any which way, Floyd outsells Pacquiao. He just does. You can compare common opponents and he outsells Pac vs. all but one (JMM 3), you can look at their average PPV sales going back to 2007 and Mayweather does better, and you can even TAKE OUT the DLH fight, keep Cotto at 1.5 million and he averages 1.223 million buys and you can take OUT Pac's fights with Diaz and JMM2 (250k and 400k respectively) and include all his biggest blockbusters (DLH, Cotto, JMM3) and he still averages less than Mayweather - 1.136 million buys. You want to just go the last 3 years to the start of 2009? 1.3 million vs. 1.117 million 2 years to the start of 2010? 1.383 million vs. 1.15 million the last 12 months? 1.375 million vs. 1.375 million, IF the final Cotto numbers stay at 1.5 million. We'll see how the Bradley fight does, but floyd has a very SLIGHT advantage here.....
Bradley vs Cotto, Alvarez & Mosley. I'm interested to see the numbers too but we can't pretend it's gonna be comparing like with like.
It doesn't change much no matter how you alter the parameters to favour Pac. So Pac hasn't been a big superstar until his last3 fights? You want to go that route? Marg, Mosley & JMM 3 his average PPV sales are 1.3 million. Floyd's last 3 fights, Mosey, Ortiz, Cotto his average sales are 1.383 million You want to go back to Pac-Cotto but leave out Clottey? over 4 fights his average is 1.288 million vs. Floyd's last 4 fights (with JMM) is 1.3 million. The only way Pac outdraws Floyd is if it's against an opponent that gave him 2 hellish fights beforehand and arguably defeated him.
Over their last 3 it's Floyd 1.4 average vs Manny 1.3 average. Somebody might call a difference like that statistically insignificant factoring in how many variables effecting the numbers are uncontrolled. Just having Alvarez-Mosley on last saturday's card might account for a big chunk of the difference. The Bradley numbers will tell us allot. If they're near the average of Manny's last 3 I'd take it as a pretty strong suggestion that Manny's marketability is still increasing.
What do you think a fair split would be Hitman? How do you think their marketability compares outside the US? I dont really have a clue
Even with a 50/50 split Floyd will pocket way more cash than Pacquiao. Dammit, I still want to see this fight. I feel like we've all earned it for sticking around this flailing sport.
Maybe so, but there was a cat who still sold his two tix for the fight on stubhub for $16k a piece, the day of the fight! There's still some serious demand.
I actually think 50/50 is pretty fair hahahaha. To be nit-picky, if you look at the numbers I think the most precise and fair split would be 52/48 in Floyd's favour... and to be honest I think if he offered that to Pac he would probably take it. I just think there is some merit to Floyd taking the bigger split. As for the worldwide popularity... if Manny is more popular worldwide than FLoyd, it isn't being reflected in their pocket books... as I stated earlier in this thread I believe. Floyd makes more money than Pac... it's the only way you can measure them in terms of worldwide popularity translated into numbers. The only PPV buys and revenue numbers I can find are domestic. If anyone can find a good source for international revenue generated??? Please let me know
Good stuff. I go with 50/50 because they are close enough. Plus, look at the synergy that each of them will bring to the other. If you get to this type of nitpicking, there would never be a 50/50 fight. Floyd was 50/50 immediately and then went juice concern (fine) and then backed off of 50/50 (asshole). I would really like to know what Pacquiao brings to the table from the Philippines because I suspect Floyd is worth nothing there.
Manny on the phone call where he agreed to all blood tests and PBF said "No PPV". Also how Arum is happy to go with whatever Pac wants. (about the 6min mark) <iframe width="1280" height="720" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Njgnmr2b7cY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
