Benn wasn't as quick as Froch, nor as accurate and he wouldn't drive Bute to ropes as easily. Bute takes control behind his jab and stops Benn in about seven rounds, landing his heavy left at will
Hold on one cotton picking moment here. Benn needed 11 rounds to get rid of cupcake Nicky Piper, a guy blown away in 7 by DM and in 3 by Carl Thompson. Benn was a small pigeon footed guy who could be out-slicked. Bute is much bigger than Benn and so is Froch. Froch is a big guy, much longer arms. Benn wins, for me, but this 30 seconds stuff.......
Bute is fine if he can establish a rhythm. Benn is a small guy. He's not Froch. He's 3 inches shorter, easily, has 5 inches less in reach, not any faster, at all, not sure how his power would translate against the bigger man. He wins, I think he wins, but he's not just getting rid of Bute for fun. He probably has to get off the deck to do it.
I'm with Irish on this one. Benn might win, but he'd have to walk through Hell to do so. I highly doubt he'd blow Bute away early. Lets not act like Bute's a bum. Overhyped? Yes. But he's still a quality fighter.
No he's not, not at elite level. Benn would destroy him. Boot is far too fragile to take what Benn can and would dish out.
As Irish already said, Benn isn't as tall and rangy as Froch. He'd have a harder time finding Bute. ALSO....... lets not forget Froch's chin. He walked through some shots that would have hurt Benn.
Ugo is 100% wrong about Benn not being as quick as Frock, in fact it's an absurd statement. Benn was wild and not exactly a speed demon, but his beastly, clubbing punches had some velocity. People often wouldn't see them coming. He had significantly quicker hands than Frock, and quicker hands than Boot too, whose speed was highly overrated as everyone saw on Saturday. Boot isn't exactly a defensive wizard, Benn would land hard and often. I think Benn's firepower would result in a fight where he wouldn't even HAVE to walk through much. Plus it's not like Boot offered much resistance when Frock did attack him, he just got hammered. That's exactly what would happen against Benn.
I'm not one to get carried away after a bad defeat/performance but Bute did look incredibly fragile against Froch. I agree that I just can't see a way he stands up to Benn for long.
