http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/bo...ants-Lamont-Peterson-banned--Jeff-Powell.html Amir Khan wants his steroid-using opponent Lamont Peterson to be exiled from boxing permanently, even if it costs him the millions to be made if the pair were to fight again. In a statement which puts the integrity and safety of boxing above increased personal fortune, Khan says: ‘Anyone who has been done for drugs should be banned for life. Peterson failed a test and that should be his punishment.’ Khan flies back to Los Angeles this weekend following the dramatic cancellation of this month’s return bout with Peterson. He is preparing for a world light-welterweight title fight with WBC champion Danny Garcia. That is likely to become a unification battle when the WBA and IBF convene to consider Khan’s appeal for his reinstatement as their champion. Peterson admitted he had a pellet containing a synthetic steroid inserted in his hip before the pre-Christmas night in his home city of Washington when he robbed Khan of those belts. He made that confession after failing a drugs test at the March press launch for the re-match and faces a hearing and almost certain suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission next month. Khan knows it is highly improbable that Peterson will be suspended sine die but his words apply significant pressure for exemplary disciplinary action. As he prepares to depart Bolton on Saturday, he says: ‘If for any reason Peterson is not suspended people will want to see him fight again and there will be commercial pressure for it to happen. But he was a threat to my life and a threat to his own life. As a professional boxer he must have known the dangers of what he was putting in his body. ‘If not then his trainer (Barry Hunter) should have known better. But I’m hoping they ban him. Then by the time he comes back it would be pointless me facing him again because I will moved on way beyond where he will be.’ That phase of Khan’s progress commences against Garcia on July 14 in Las Vegas, a fight he has taken on condition of the enforcement of rigorous drugs testing. With Andre Berto also testing positive – and forcing the cancellation of his fight with Victor Ortiz – Khan says: ‘There appears to be a lot drugs going on over there. I am insisting on full, random testing for all my fights for now on. It’s expensive but it has to be done. Boxing is dangerous enough without steroids. ‘An example needs to be made of Peterson, to prove it’s not worth it. He must be having sleepless nights after losing $1.5million, the biggest purse of his career and a sum which would have changed his life. He would have been remembered as a legend in Washington but now he’s lost everything, including his respect. ‘I hate drugs. I’m clean. I’ve been tested a hundred times, starting when I was 16. I got very used to it in the Olympics. I’m always looking to fight the best. I offered to fight Juan Manuel Marquez and Timothy Bradley, twice, and as soon as I move up to welterweight I’ll be looking for Floyd Mayweather. All I ask is for a fair fight.’ Khan is treating the Peterson saga as a blessing in disguise, saying: ‘At least we had a tough 12-round work-out and if they give me back my belts I get the chance of unifying that division before going after Mayweather.' But first Garcia. A Philadelphian of Puerto Rican descent, Garcia has won all his 22 pro fights thus far, 14 of them by KO. He outpointed veteran Mexican legend Erik Morales to claim the WBC title in March. Khan says: ‘It may be a little early for him to take me on but he is undefeated. He doesn’t bring the same kind of walk-forward pressure as Peterson but he has long arms and plants himself wide to generate decent power. We’ll be working on that.’ As a firm Bolton Wanderers fan, Khan is thinking of dedicating this fight to Fabrice Muamba, following the footballer’s miraculous recovery from a cardiac arrest on the pitch at Spurs. Khan’s honourable stance follows Carl Froch’s sensational stoppage of unbeaten IBF world super-middleweight champion Lucian Bute in enhancing the troubled image of British boxing. He puts most of the blame on Dereck Chisora for the Munich brawl with David Haye. While withholding judgement on their controversial Luxembourg-licensed heavyweight fight at Upton Park he says: ‘I want David to teach him a lesson in behaviour in the ring.’ The pity is that Haye-Chisora takes place on the same July 14 night, on the BoxNation channel. In all its lurid controversy, it is bound to distract domestic attention from Khan’s nobler Sky Sports exploits in Las Vegas.
Anxiously waiting for G to dig up some 5 year-old drug test for Breidis Prescott that turns up positive.
Well its not the Daily Mail, its Jeff Powell, who has been around a bit. He knows which side his bread is buttered, of course.athetic:
Did Miguel Cotto come out and ask for Margarito to be "Banned For Life"??? :dunno: Khan is risible dirt.
The more you hear from Khan, the more hideous you realise he is. Vile maggot, I hope he gets viciously KO'd soon.
He's a vial maggot , but like any maggot, its the hook he is snared on , and the line that the hook is tied to, and the reel that line is trotted out from, that you really need to worry about. Khan is the twitching nematode on the end of a very sharp hook that is controlled by some very scummy people.
You can't blame Khan for this stuff any more than you would seek to punish a down syndrome for screaming obscenities, he lacks most every kind of insight, he's retarded :dunno:
I don't know.......you can see how his grubby little mind works, always mentioning how much money Petersen has lost off this one fight, so he knows the financial ramifications of a life-long ban. He's a fucking grub, if he wasn't a boxer he'd be cruising the streets in a Vauxhall Nova looking for white meat.
Lamont 'if you can't beat 'em, cheat 'em' Peterson should be banned for life. Steroids suck. KHAAAAAAN!!!
