In light of all the corruption, is it fair to expect fighters to go for the KO?

Rules are rules. And they say a fighter just needs to win more rounds than his opponent to win the fight. But given these rules are not enforced on a consistent basis, is it fair to expect fighters to make a more concerted effort to get the knock out?

Take Salido/Lopez II. Had it not been for Salido's determined knock out, he too would've been on the wrong side of a corrupt decision.

Steward makes this point all the time.

Is it a well advised strategy then for fighters to press harder than they have for knock outs? Or would this somehow further institutionalize the corruption? Does the public decide ultimately? Or is a knockout the ultimate blow to corruption?

Easier said than done. Imagine Chris Byrd fighting Ray Mercer. Imagine Chris Byrd's annoying cunt of a wife screaming at him before round 12! Chris don't leave it in the hands of the judges!! Knock him out!!!!

Good point. Some are more equiped than others to score that knock out. I actually believe judges, though, especially in Vegas, use their influence to craft the sport. According to Winky Wright, he never would've walked Vargas down had it not been for the ODH/Trinidad decision. By the same token, Odh/Mosley would not have been the barn-burner that it was had it not been for the Trinidad/Odh decision. Odh likely would not have brutalized Coley in the fashion he did. And so possibly fighters like Byrd are held to a different standard than ones like Byrd? Either way, it's corrupt.

Why if a decision is outrageous wont' they just fine/suspend the judge ? And keep him away from a big fight for a while and if he slips up again revoke his license and that's that. I'm sure it's a good paying job and people are waiting in line to get the opportunity so just remove those ungrateful corrupt fucks and that's that. That's what pisses me off the most because even yesterday I was reading how WBO wants to investigate or some shit like that but they made sure to emphasize that they feel the judges did a great job and they themselves will not be investigated at all. What the fuck is that ? Boxers should not have to rely on knock outs. That's just dumb because this is not some back yard Kimbo Slice shit. Imagine a NBA finals game where the coach has to say to his team after 3 quarters "Guys you have to be more aggressive. We need a 10 point lead at least going into the last 2 minutes because I don't trust these referees and their shady calls! " Boxing is a multi million dollar sport so somebody should take damn charge but nobody gives a fuck everybody is just concerned about their own bank accounts.

I agree. It's NOT fair to expect more knock outs.

It's not fair to the boxers. It messes up their whole game plan / style etc. They should be confident enough to do whatever they want in there and expect a fair judging.
