I didn't find a thread for this (shockingly enough) Anyways, Freitas is a Member of Parliament these days. A 22 year old middleweight with record of 17-0 talked crap and got Freitas to face him at 160 lbs. Here is the last (9th round of the fight) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFiZUUPI0II&feature=related
Good stuff. I like fights that remind you how good world class boxers are. A retired, 37 year old old, fat super featherweight > a pro boxer on that level
I saw the fight the day after it happened, and I had exactly the same thoughts as Hut. It does remind you the difference in ability between even a 37 year old blown up congressman of a world class fighter, and just your average pro pug. Truth be told Freitas didn't look that bad, considering. Sure he was up against a scrub, but kind of looked similar to how he used to really.
Yeah his hands looked pretty good for being above is fighting weight and being inactive for so long. Showed more skill than Martinez.
The fight was televised on TyC in the US. It was at 154, not 160. I knew the result so I didn't watch the fight, but Freitas did look pretty solid at 154. Oliveira came in much lighter than usual. Not sure if that had anything to do with the result, but he's usually in the low 160's according to boxrec and weighed 152.5 for this fight.
