Martinez will give this kid a boxing lesson and flatten him in around 7 bloody and one-sided rounds. Forget what the talking heads at HBO told you folks, this is a definite mismatch.
Do you think it's THAT much of a mismatch though? Do you think Chavez is even worse than Macklin and Baker?
Major mismatch. Junior is not even in this guy's league, bro. Martinez is gonna box rings around him, junior is gonna be hit with shots that he is going to walk right into and a big left puts him down and out. Take it to the sports book.
I don't think it's a mismatch at all... Martinez is maybe the most overrated fighter of my entire lifetime I think he wins a close one on points
I'll wait until I know where the fight is taking place. I'm probably picking Chavez if it's in Texas where he can cheat.
Disagree completely... Vitali has had plenty of Macklin and Baker level opponents and he has fucking destroyed them, treated them as the trash they are Martinez struggled to do much of anything for large portions of his fights with those two tomato cans Martinez's ascension to "greatness" is on the back of a one-in-a-million wild shot that KOd a pretty good fighter What dominant performance has he ever had? He holds his arms by his thighs like an orangutan and throws a potshot that misses 80% of the time... He's the worst P4P guy I have ever seen
In Maravilla's defense, he CLEARLY fights up the level of his opposition. Vitali has made an entire career off beating up cans, and lost to the ONLY elite fighter he ever faced. And that elite fighter was WASHED UP, and FAT. Plus, Vitali has FAAARRRR more delusional groupies than Martinez. There's Vitali groupies that think he would have beaten prime Tyson, Holmes, Ali, and Lewis. The later sounds pretty comical. I mean, if he couldn't beat a washed up Lewis, how the fuck is he beating a prime one? You don't hear ANYBODY saying that Martinez would have beaten Hagler, Leonard, Monzon, Hopkins, Jones, McCallum, ect. So no, Martinez is NOT more overrated than Quitali. Quitali is the most overrated fighter of all time. Quitali is the type of guy that a prime Golota would batter if he had half a brain. But Andrew had no brain, so he'd fold.
Whatever it stems from, Martinez's career blows Vitali's away. Maravilla has accomplished more in 3 years than Vitali has in over a decade.
Junior is a protected little boy who is going to get his plow cleaned Big Time if he has the balls to face Martinez.
I don't think he's overrated. It's impossible to judge him in all honesty because of the era he's in. Yea you can say he lost to an unmotivated and overweight Lewis but it's not like he got blown out in there, he deserved a rematch if Lewis had carried on. Your criticisms of him are just the opposite end of the spectrum to guys proclaiming him to be the greatest heavyweight ever.
I think that some of you got too impressed by Junior's victory over Andy Lee, a guy who was already overrated even after being stopped by Vera. I said here a few months ago that if Chavez Jr and his camp were naming Lee as a possible opponent was because they KNEW he was there to be taken. Junior, motivated by his 'big win' last night (he was behind in all scorecards including mine), apparently grew a pair and is calling out Martinez thinking the Argentinian is declining due to his less than impressive last fights. Junior is not realizing that Martinez was not very motivated to fight those tomato cans, but when facing Chavez Jr. he will be 100% focused on beating the hell of the guy who repeatedly has avoided him for the last year or so. Like it was mentioned before: this is the same mismatch everybody mentioned 12 months ago. The only question that should be in our minds is 'in which round Martinez will KO Junior', not who wins.
A KO and a loss to Paul Williams plus a decision over a troubled Pavlik coming off a humiliating loss hardly blow it out of the water though.
It should be noted that Lee was always hideously overrated. He was stopped by Vera ffs. Rubio is a much better fighter than Lee, he was just too undersized to beat Chavez.
You're probably right, it's just that Martinez didn't exactly look great against Baker and Macklin, he might have lost a step. I can picture Jr giving him a tough fight at least.
Going tooth and nail with one of the all time heavyweights and losing on a cut counts for something in my eyes. Lewis is my favourite fighter but you can't blame Vitali for not getting the rematch which you also cant deny he more than deserved after his performance. Yes it's easy to say he lost to the one great fighter he faced, but it shouldn't be forgotten that against the one great fighter he did go up against, he more than held his own. He proved he could at least hang in elite company, Martinez hasn't done that.
I find it comical that people think Chavez Jr can beat Martinez based on him beating Lee.. Martinez might be overrated, but he's still a world class fighter and a champion. That's too much for Chavez to handle. There's a reason they shamelessly ducked Martinez for as long as they possibly could.
I am picking Chavez because Martinez is a fucking pussy. Lee sucks, but so does Serge Puss. One thing Lee does better than Serge Pussy is punch. The overrated faggot will run and the judges will give cHAVEZ THE decision, if he doesn't stop the running homo. Mark my words, Chavez beats Serge Pussy or I will ban myself for a year after I make a thread. I will once again show my superior boxing knowledge.
Sergio Martinez getting robbed in a distance fight is a possibility we're all aware of. That's the only real chance Chavez has to win, though.
I wouldn't be surprised if Chavez stops him like that scrub Margarito did in Serge Pussy's prime. Many of you babies will claim he was robbed if it goes the distance, even though Serge Pussy will run even more than his usual 2:30 of every round.
Chavez is too big and Strong for Martinez ,plus he's got a solid chin and doesn't get discouraged.I just think thats alot to deal with for an aging undersized middleweight that hasn't look very impressive against below average comp.
