It's safe to say Pryor is/was legit, but it's a shame he never fought a prime great fighter in their natural weight, at their best. So though we know he's good, it's kind of hard to say just how good. So how does he fare against these 4 fighters at 140? All at their best, whatever you think is the best version of each. I think he beats Hatton and Chavez, loses to Pacquiao, and I'm not sure about Floyd. I think he matches up with Floyd better than Pacquiao but if push comes to shove I'd probably pick Floyd.
I think he beats them all aside from Floyd, that is a pick em fight. Shame we never got to see Pryor in with Hearns, Leonard, Duran, and Benitez.. though I think he would have lost to all of those guys w/ exception of Benitez, depending on the Benitez that showed up
I don't even know why you included Hatton. Hatton has zero chance whatsoever against Pryor, so that matchup isn't even worth debating. Pryor vs Chavez, Floyd, and Pac are worth debating, but personally I'd favor Pryor over Chavez with little hesitation. I'd favor him over Pac, but the 09 Pac would have a very good chance. And Floyd is a tough choice. Much as I would LIKE to favor Hawk, Floyd is so versatile and such a good thinker, that I could see him figuring out even Pryor. Plus, I think 140 was Floyd's optimal weight.
He ain't beating Floyd... That's for sure. Floyd is too good He would beat Hatton IMO but it would be a better fight than people think I'm not sure about chavez.. I think Pryor was bigger
If I was gonna pick one guy to beat Floyd it'd either be Pryor or Napoles. Very unpredictable, off rhythm, high pace pressure. I really don't think Floyd can win that. I think Pacquiao has a better chance but Pryor's strength and versatility edges it out. Chavez would force the issue but Pryor's speed would carry the day in a close fight over 15. Hatton would force a very entertaining fight, but he gets stopped at some point down the line. Maybe in about 10.
The 140lb Pacquiao from the Hatton fight would make for sweet, sweet fisticuffs with a peak Pryor. Mmmmm
No doubt. Maybe I have a higher opinion of that Pacquiao than most, or a slightly lower opinion of Pryor, but I would be semi confident in the Hatton/Cotto version of Pacquiao beating Pryor. It would be a great fight, but I like Pacquiao's handspeed, footspeed, and accuracy to simply land more punches than Pryor over the distance. I think the decider for me is I just can't imagine anyone that's fairly hittable like Pryor beating Pacquiao at 126 to 140. He'll just land too much.
He's becoming a bit underrated now imo, now people are used to him beating bigger guys etc, he's being taken for granted. I wouldn't give him much chance against any atg welters, but I think he's just about big enough at 140 to be a beast, the version that beat Pacquiao and Cotto was a beast, no doubt about it. Who do you think would win out of Pacquiao and Pryor? I think that version of Pacquiao, still prime but more polished and skilled than the animal that destroyed Barrera, would even give Duran a decent fight - but ultimately his lack of infighting would get him beaten up. Also, as far as greats in the 135 to 140 range - I think Duran, Whitaker and Floyd all match up way better with Pacquiao than Pryor does, and the main reason for that is they are much harder to hit.
Yep. Including Hatton with Pac, Chavez & Floyd is like singing the old Sesame Street song "One of these things is not like the others..."
Though Hatton would obviously lose to Pryor, how many of Pryor's opponents would you pick over Hatton? Hatton has also become a bit underrated. He's only lost to Pacquiao and Floyd and people act like he's some bum.
Tough to say who'd win. I'd go with an unlimited rounds rule, Pryor with "the one I mixed" and Pacquiao dripping with 'roids. Last man standing. Could be the most violent fist fight any of us have ever seen.
I would favor Pryor over each guy, comfortably Mayweather gives him the most trouble, but I still would favor Pryor
