Lack of understanding? Chael was hyped up by PR dude. Period. The first fight was a farce and Anderson proved it. So Chael juiced himself up and layed on top of an injured Anderson for 4 rounds without ever even having the champ hurt.

Do you know anything about Chaels record? He gets stopped by EVERYONE! Chael is a b level fighter and Anderson is the best middleweight ever. Period.

Dont remember that. I just remember him saying that. Its irrelevant though since Silva had an injury and Sonnen was all juiced up.

No one is arguing that Silva is the best MW in the world. Your lack of understanding stems from your moronic comment that Chael didn't belong in the same cage with Silva.

    That's just stupid.

While I think Sonnen is a steroid cheat, I also KNOW that he is the only guy in the UFC, other than Dan Henderson, to win a single round against Silva in my opinion. (Maybe Maia got a round, but not on my card)

And even if Sonnen winning rounds in the first fight is excused away with the high testosterone and Silva's "rib injury" excuse, keep in mind that he also won, or rather he dominated the first round in the rematch.

So tell me, if Sonnen, who has won 5 of 6 rounds against Silva; beaten 4 or 5 top 10 MW's in the UFC, DOESN'T belong in the same cage as Silva, who the fuck does?

To me it's very simple. If a guy can win 5 of 6 rounds against the undisputed, best fighter on the planet, then he probably belongs in the same cage WITH ANYONE.

Shoeshiner is like a dumbed-down version of TLC. All the stupidity with half the actual MMA knowledge. Sounds just like a former poster that got schooled by TLC. Just like.

wow talk about a guy being inconsistent with his position. He's dead set against steroid usage, but discount it for explaining Sonnen first performance.

Tito Ortiz's reported pay was 250K, More than Anderson Silva's reported pay. Difference is, Tito isn't getting a cut of the PPV like Silva and Sonnen are.

Sonnen will make millions on this fght.

Yeah, I agree. That's why I mentioned early on that it was difficult to say anything positive about Sonnen.

I am fine with throwing the first fight out completely because of his cheating. But it doesn't explain his ability to dominate the best fighter on the planet for the entire first round of their second fight.

Silva is the better fighter because he got Sonnen out of there. No doubt. But there isn't this huge talent difference that would indicate "Sonnen doesn't belong in the same cage" with Anderson as Bob N' Shine mentioned.

Even in the rematch Silva showed he doesn't have good wrestling defense nor does he have the ability to get a good wrestler off him. His strength is that he can finish fights in so many ways.

But make no mistake, he didn't beat Chael because he suddenly improved his take down defense or solved Sonnen. He won because he pounced on a mistake by Sonnen. That ability to exploit such a small mistake is what makes Silva great. That being said, he would always have problems with Sonnen. The difference between it being a big problem or a little problem all comes down to how quick he can catch Sonnen with a big shot.

By the way, Silva's lack of wrestling defense suddenly makes Weidman-Silva a damn good fight. Silva will have his hands full in that one as well.

Silva got over aggressive out of the gate in the rematch which led to the TD. Sonnen didn't take him down in multiple attempts after that. Just saying.

LOL... Multiple attempts? He stuffed 2 and one was aided by grabbing Sonnen's shorts.

Again, I'm torn about doing any arguing for the worth of Chael Sonnen, but Silva didn't prove anything in terms of improving his take down defense or ability to get back to his feet.

I wanted to see Silva absolutely school Sonnen. Instead I got Silva pouncing on Sonnen after Sonnen feel by his own doing. It was impressive in how quickly Silva can exploit a mistake, but he didn't do better this time because his wrestling improved.

Does anyone doubt that Silva will struggle with a wrestler like Weidman? The blueprint is there to beat Anderson. Silva struggled the first time he faced a great, world-class wrestler. That won't change. And a guy like Weidman is far more capable of ending a fight on the ground than Sonnen could ever dream about.

...... And, provided he doesn't fail a drug test between now and then, Weidman isn't a cheating POS.

REED ISN'T Sure about How Many Times Sonnen Attempted Takedowns in Round 2, but that was CLEARLY his Plan (as it SHOULD have Been, Based on the 1st 6 Rounds of this Rivalry)...

But Having Said that, just as Chael WRESTLED Silva to the Ground just as Easily, in Round 1 of the RE, Silva THWARTED Chael's Takedown ATTEMPTS Better than he EVER Had, in Round 2 of the RE...

I hate coming off like a Sonnen apologist, but it hilarious to think Silva had some answer for Chael's wrestling because he stuff 2 take down attempts.

Well, let me take that back. Silva did have an answer. It was illegally grabbing Sonnen's shorts. If not for that, Silva is on his back on Chael's first attempt in the 2nd.

Anderson Silva is the better fighter. But Anderson Silva has also benefited from not facing world-class wrestlers for the overwhelming majority of his career. Unfortunately it looks another, more well-round wrestler is likely next up for Silva.
