I know that this is a Tszyu M.M, & therefore as a fightbeat poster I'm contractually obliged to mention Phillips &/ or say that Tszyu would quit. However, this really is very close to a pick-em' for me. Put a gun to my head & I guess I'd have to pick PBF, but Tszyu was a very special fighter who was very versatile, had a laser RH & did well against boxers.
Floyd with ease. I struggle to see Tszyu being competitive at all, he'd get picked off and potshotted all night.
Tszyu was 1 dimensional. A head hunter with a nice counter right hand, could only really fight one way, and one pace, and was a front runner too. When the going gets tough, Tszyu folds. There is really nothing versatile about him, he can't fight on the backfoot, he can't fight inside, and he wasn't a bodypuncher.
He could out-box, or overpower opponents. Most of the time, he overpowered them, because he could. For example, he fought & outboxed a come forward fighter in Tackie off the back foot. In His previous fight he had destroyed the slick & fast Judah. (Also watch the Forrest fight in the amateurs to see how one-dimensional he is.) He had insane power in both hands. Great conditioning. Great chin. Great accuracy, speed. Excellent footwork. There was a Maywhether posting here a few years ago, & he said that he saw Kostya as the biggest threat to PBF as he did a lot of little things really well (or words to that effect). Kostya is very underated around here.
MWS is ridiculous when it comes to , Zu. Floyd is a guy who finds a way to win. I think he'd beat Zu in a close fight. I don't see Zu winning here.
if mayweather jr would have made the jump to face him in '02 i think he would have lost. he didnt have the physical strength to compete against elite 140lbers at that point in his career.
12-0 Floyd, this wouldn't be a competitive fight at all. Imagine round 1 of Judah-Tszyu, only moreso, and 12 times over.
Yep :bears: Tszyu would look basic, unimaginative and clueless in the ring with Floyd. Floyd could move up from 130 and still beat Tszyu easily. Two different levels of fighter.
Mayweather by UD 9-3, Tszyu is not a pressure fighter, doesn't throw a ton of punches. But I expect him to land something that rocks Mayweather even for a split second.
How bout the Floyd of 05 vs the best version of Tszyu? BTW, for the record I pick Floyd. Just two different classes of fighter at the end of the day.
Tszyu is horribly underrated around here. Does Floyd win? Probably. But he is Mayweather's best win in ten years and by a long, long way and Kostya is easily good enough to land some big old counters to make things interesting. MTF
Mayweather in an 8-4 type of fight... a little too quick, just a little too good defensively... Tszyu had considerable skill, and I can see him having some rallies during the bout where he lands hard shots and steals some rounds. Overall, though, I think he is just not quick enough and lacks enough head movement coming forward to avoid getting nailed by the counter rights.
I don't care if Floyd came down with saars. He would dominate Zoo boy and him eating coconuts with rum in them a week later
Sort of. Floyd is an A level guy and Zu is a B+ type guy in an all time terms. Zu losing every round is stupid. 8-4 , 7-5 type fight. Zu was better against Boxers.
Really? Mitchell and Judah were front runners with glass jaws. Floyd has a great chin, all-time great defense and stamina for days, Floyd would humiliate Tszyu.
mayweather jr. figured his best strategy was to land a few shots on tszyu and then tie him up. repeatedly. makes sense he would think that way. considering who trains him
Floyd has been hit clean by Oscar and flush by Mosley. His chin is excellent, there's no denying that. He has amazing defense, but he's not a magician, he gets hit in pretty much every fight just like everyone else, just less so. Oh, he's also been hit flush by Zab, who if nothing else has highly legit handspeed and power. He was hurt by Zab, Corley and Mosley, but not THAT hurt, and recovered quick. Now he has slowed down he's getting hit more, he took clean shots from Cotto and Ortiz and took them absolutely fine. There is really no doubt Floyd has an excellent chin.
Here is a link on SARS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severe_acute_respiratory_syndrome I saying WITH. SARS. Floyd still wins
On the few occasions he has been hit clean he has been hurt, but shown excellent recuperative powers I agree. I don't think he has an 'excellent' chin, though; rather his superb defense means that he rarely takes shots cleanly and he recovers very quickly. MTF
