Why in the world would they waste a date on Sergiy Dzinziruk against Jonathan Gonzalez and Gennady Golovkin against TBA (most likely Gregorsz Proska : from maxboxing ). It has no appeal to teh casual fans, hell, almost none for the harcore fans as well. Not to count the never ending saga that is Broner vs hopless bum or Donaire bi-annual showcase fight ( in wich he consistently fails to deliver the performance we expect of him )
What about showing Vitaly vs Charr, one of the worst guy to ever fight for a hw championship after ignoring a lot of the Klithsko defenses vs far better guy's ?
To make matters worse, just read that the opener to the Broner showcase is some supposed can't miss prospect vs a pure can he's expected to crush. HBO should concentrate on showing the best fights they can, not ''building'' fake stars with the sure miss recipe ( you just have to look at the sport dip in popularity since this way of building fighters was adopeted ) of making them look spectacular by matching thme soft. If Top Rank doesn't want to deal with GP and match Donaire with Mares, either have him fight Rigoundau or tell Nonito to go take a hike on Showtime for a fraction of the $$$. Same shit with Broner, either have him fight someone or tell him to fuck off
Dzinziruk is apparently a great fighter. He never fought anyone, really, but he got beat up by Martinez, so that means he must be awesome.
Dzindzuruk was a very decent fighter but pissed away the best days of his career on the Dariusz Mystery Tour over in Germany. He was badly faded by the time he fought Martinez and still managed to cut the bum.
wow, they are showing ziruk? why? awful decision, no one in the us knows or gives a shit about him, and he is not exactly fun to watch either. strange.

Was there not a guarantee of another HBO slot for Dzinziruk built into his Martinez fight contract...Seemed rather unnecessary but HBO reacts strangely for an organisation which should be calling the shots
Ah I see, but yeah that does seem like an odd choice in the first place, for a relative unknown like Ziruk.
Dzinziruk, who I liked very much and consider to be Martinez's best win (Williams 2 is the better win in more ways, I suppose), is not the featured fighter of the matchup. It is obviously HBO's hope that Gonzalez will will shine and give them a local (i.e. Puerto Rican local) fighter to hype. Televising the Charr fight after not televising the far more interesting previous fights is curious. Is Vitali on the record that he is retiring after Charr for sure? Gonzalez is okay, but I really like the flyweight Jonathan Gonzalez much more.
I'm guessing HBO dumped a lot of money into Ward/Dawson and they're hoping Vitali in a 'title fight' will bump ratings.
They'll probably sell the Vitali fight as being his last and fuckers will tune in just to watch it in celebration.
I see it HBO trying to sell Dzin as some awesome technician with one of the best jab in the business. Who was taken apart by Sergio "The Conqueror" Martinez.....:dunno:
He does have a great jab. It is indisputable. That doesn't mean he is a great or good fight. Bruce Seldon had a great, great jab. He wasn't even very good.
http://www.maxboxing.com/news/main-lead/boxing-after-farce Steve Kim is one of the few writers who's worth reading presently and he's spot on on the lastest trash shown by HBO
speaking of what's wrong with HBO, I wonder why Al Haymon is so powerful that HBO seems to bow down to him and his fighters. People bitch about Broner and his competition but is a combination of Haymon and HBO that have put him where he is at the moment. Seems like a flood of figthers now are signing with Haymon and I can see why. He gets you paid and tv dates!
it's true! Look at Berto's whole carreer. Damn near every card I watch weather is HBO or ppv there are more and more Haymon fighters with the same entourage in the ring. Clearly the guy has some kind of power to quickly put his fighters on. Aside from Floyd none of these guys really earn their way there.
I didn't see what was funny about your post, it's true and very worrying, I remembered Hausser claiming that Haymon was linking his fighters with his other stars ( for example Beyonce ) as in to say, he would only agreed to televise a Beyonce concert on HBO if they would showcase this figter of his
Kim may know the details better than most, but you would have to be blind to not at least have some inkling as to what is going on in boxing at HBO. It's all very forced, all very manufactured.
I completely agree with your post, it is a little weird how Haymon fighters suddenly get propelled to manufactured HBO "stars". I was only laughing at the "bow down to him" part, as it was obviously an unintentional qwertyism. But regarding Haymon, does anyone know precisely why he has the pull he does with HBO? There is no one else that can consistently get HBO dates with up and comers Vs overmatched scrubs, time after time. I'm sick of it too, it's a fucking waste of a good HBO boxing slot, the matchups are 95% gimmes. He really is the American Frunk Werren isn't he?
