Leave Neil alone, Irish. He has been falsely accused of the wicked arts of midgetry. This is his day.

I've taken the liberty of doing a Fightbeat special height analysis. The only problem is, his photo with Hearns throws a spanner in the works. He looks at least 5'11 in that pic.

Typical Duran NUTHUGGERY @ it's "Finest"...Not Sure WHY you Brought Jones-Tarver Into this, but Roy WAS 35 Years Old when that Fight Happened, fyi..."Ya'll Musta Forgot"...

Systematically, REED'll Dismantle this Hero Worshipping Post of Yours...

Duran QUIT Because Leonard was EMBARRASSING Him, Flat & Simple...Duran was Getting CLOWNED, the Crowd was LOVING & LAUGHING @ Every Minute of it & Like the BULLY that he was, Duran Folded Up like a Cheap Suit, Took his Proverbial "Toys" & Went Home, Because he Knew there was NOfuckingWAY he was Going to Beat Leonard that Night...

Duran "Made Leonard His Bitch" in the 1st Fight????:l2:...WATCH the GOTdamn Fight Again, Devoid of the Duran Colored Glasses, Manos de Piedras Pumps & Thong, Ok???...It was a CLOSE Fight that Duran Won by No More than a Couple Rounds...A 9-6 or 8-7 Type of Fight & If ANY Of you Duran Lovers Wants to Engage in a Round by Round DEBATE on that FIght, REED'll GLADLY Oblige...

REED DOESN'T Hate Duran @ All, what REED "Hates" is the AUDACITY of Duran Fans, Treating this Guy as if he INVENTED the Mouthpiece & Boxing Gloves...Or How U Guys have Built in EXCUSES for EVERY SINGLE Loss of His, as if the Idea of Duran Simply LOSING a Fight is Unfathomable...

Now, let's Get to THE Most Comedic Portion of your Post...

Despite ANY Presumed Negotiating Leverage that Leonard May have Had in a RE, Duran WON the 1st Fight & Held ALL the Cards...If Duran was "Partying" or "Having Trouble Making Weight", All he Had to Do was POSTPONE the Fucking Fight...He Could've EASILY "Injured" his Hand or Anything, to Allow Himself MORE Time to Prepare...So Please CEASE & DESIST w/this FALLACY of Leonard Somehow FORCING Duran Into an Early RE...Again, Duran Could've EASILY Taken that Fight @ a Time that was More Advantageous to HIM...Fights R POSTPONED All the Fucking Time...But Since Duran TOOK the Fight, he Felt he WAS PREPARED for the Fight...So SPARE Fightbeat the Revisionist Bullshit....

As for the Ring Nonsense, SHOW REED Where Leonard was Given the RIGHT to Negotiate Size of the Ring???...Again, More Duran Loving Conjecture...Did Leonard Also Petition to have the DEAD SPOT in the Ring, which he Tripped Over Several Times in the Fight???...Duran LOST to the Better Man that Night, Plain & Simple...He was on his way to a Wiiiiiide Decision Loss, he was Getting CLOWNED, he was EMBARRASSED, so like the Mentally WEAK, Frontrunning BULLY that he Truely was, he QUIT...

If he was this Ultimate Fighting Machine that Some of you Portray him to Be, SURELY he'd have Found a Way to FIGHT his Way Out of it, as Opposed to TAPPING his Way Out of It..."Duran was Duran. He Could Do Whatever the Fuck He Wanted"....Yeah, Unless Leonard, Hagler, Hearns or Benitez were Involved...

Only so much of a ring one man can cut off at any given time. There is a lot to dislike about Duran, but Ray either didn't give rematches, or made sure he gave them on terms that were, at the very least, beneficial to him. Personally, I have no horse in this race, but Ray did run. The fact that Duran couldn't deal with it is also no great credit to Roberto.

I've seen Duran Vs Leonard 1 many, many times - it's probably my favourite ever fight - and in all honesty I don't think it's a close fight at all. I scored it 11-4 for Duran. He dominated the fight from start to finish, bullied Leonard, outlanded Leonard, hurt Leonard a couple of times. Even in some of the rounds where Lenny tried to box more, Duran held his own at the very least. Ironically I think the rounds Leonard won, he was more aggressive in.

For some reason, and I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I always put more emphasis on the first fight when it comes to marquee match-ups. Obviously this only applies if both guys were in their primes.

That first meeting, when both guys have to adjust on the fly to what the other brings is just more meaningful to me.

Duran Dominated the EARLY Portion of the 1st Fight...By the Middle of the Fight, Leonard FOUND his Way & Started Pocketing Rounds...11-4 is a JOKE, Mex...

Same here, it's also generally when both guys are pumped and give their best performance, particularly if it's a big fight.

It's why my boy Erik deserves more credit than he gets for beating Pacquiao 8 rounds to 4 :kidcool:

REED, Duran even won the 15th round. Bopping around, slipping almost everything Ray threw, tapping his chin, laughing at Leonard. By the end of the fight Leonard looked like a frustrated, beaten man.

Honestly, scoring it objectively mainly on punches landed, I think Duran won 11 rounds. He was the guy landing more punches and controlling the action in the vast majority of the rounds.

I'm genuinely surprised when anyone thinks it IS a close fight :dunno:

Being VERY Generous, Duran Won the Fight 9-6 Mex...CLEAR, but CLOSER than Duran Fans Care to Acknowledge...

11-4 is a GAY for Duran Type of Scorecard, Bro...Leonard Won 6 CLEAR Rounds in that Bout, Arguably 7...Put your FANDOM On Hold & Try Watching it OBJECTIVELY...
