I've never seen Porksa fight, but Golovkin is good. Porksa lost to Kerry Hope, so yeah, he probably gets steamrolled.
proksa is actually very good. in the first hope fight he was completely in control until he got a nasty cut in the third round or so and couldnt see the right hands coming. he showed tons of heart and will. i thought he nicked the fight by a round or two. in the rematch he won every round and stopped hope in the 9th he is really really awkward and has power. he destroyed sylvester in germany. stopped him in 3 rounds. golovkin had trouble with southpaw ouma for a while...
Destroying Sylvester is a decent result I guess. Sylvester isn't much good, but you probably have to be decent to destroy him. For anyone else who has seen both fighters, how much of a chance do you give Porksa against Golovkin?
Sylvester didnt bother to show up against proksa, he barely looked interested...proksa is "awkward" in a poor man's martinez way, i'd say he won't be able to hold golovkin back after the opening 2-3 rds
Salaco, I just checked him on youtube and as soon as I started watching I realised I've seen him before, I realised straight away because of his weird hands down, stance switching, poor man's Martinez style as you say. I think it was the Sylvester fight actually. He looks decent actually, not a scrub, but I think Golovkin is a class above this guy. Should be too solid, too big, and too strong. Proksa actually looks like one of the smallest middleweights I've ever seen. 5'8 and surprisingly slender, why on earth is he fighting at middleweight?
No he didn't. Only Ancient Greece and The Simpsons featured more obvious Homer's than that. Proksa won the first fight by 2-3 rounds and emphatically blew the Hopeless one away in the rematch. He's losing to Golovkin, of course, but he didn't lose to Hopeless, ever.
Agreed. Maybe he's Polish and doesn't get the concept of the day-before-weigh-in. Guy could comfortably make 147 and make a lot of green versus the likes of the bums that live there, a la Ortiz and that other Berto bum.
:: The thought actually crossed my mind, the Poles aren't usually the sharpest tools in the box. And yeah I thought the same thing again, I'd be shocked if he couldn't make 147 comfortably. He looks no bigger than someone like Clottey, who is a fairly stocky 5'8.
The French rolled over vs the Germans. The Poles were like "Nah, fuck that, let's go for it". Dumb as a barrel of monkey nuts, but what we owe them is beyond estimation.
Proksa looked like crap in the 1st fight against Kerry Hope, fell apart the moment he saw his own blood. I thought he still won the fight but didn't have much of a problem w/ decision. He looked miles better in the rematch earlier this month. Proksa could be a decent middleweight in a year or two, but I think Golovkin is too much, too soon. Golovkin looks to be the truth, though hasn't quite yet fought the necessary opposition to determine that. Still, glad to see HBO is showing him love.
I honestly think Porksa's biggest chance is that Golovkin is from Kazakhstan. "I never seen a Kazakhstanian that can fight, thas de choof, and choof's de choof!".
Jirov was fromt Kazakhstan, Maskaev as well if I'm not mistaken but was really a Russian who's parent migrated there during the Soviet era
I completely forgot that Jirov was from Kazakhstan. I think you're wrong about Maskaev though, I've never read anything apart him simply being from Russia. I was half kidding anyway though. I think Golovkin is pretty legit, I would favour him over Pirog if that fight took place.
What a stupid matchup for HBO. Golovkin, known only by a few of us, versus Proksa, a guy known by maybe 3 American relatives. No matter what happens, the result will be dismissable by the bulk of HBO's audience. Should have had them fighting people from north america that people are familiar with and let them do their thing.
I agree. You'll get the envious crew in, dissing this as an irrelevant fight, when its a good fight. I always said it- to fight in America- and be relevant, you don't have to beat the best. You have to beat their best. Knocking out King Kong only impresses them if they are familiar with King Kong. Its as if Kongs physical stature is somehow diminished if they haven't heard of him. Golovkin vs Proksa should be made after Proksa has KO'd a known/name Mexican or American fighter.
Broad-faced heathens. Of course, football and basketball go from strent to strent, and so a wind blows in to fill the gap, and this is a foul simian breeze, make no mistake about it.
