Sly says shit for shock value.

Nobody over the age of 14 would consider The Avengers to be in the same league as The Dark Knight.

I loved it. The plot got really sloppy toward the end, but it was great. The first 5 minutes was simply the coolest thing I have ever seen. Had high expectations, but it was the shit.

the first 5 minutes was actually the prologue they released a few months ago if you went to see the mission impossible movie. It wasnt suppose to be in the movie. Im glad they put it in tho. It's a great scene.

Hey, I meant to ask you. Did I miss something? Why did they bury Bruce Wayne? Why did people assume he was dead?I give the movie a 9/10. The plot got really shitty toward the end. The whole kissing thing with Ann Hathacatwoman, the whole his name is Robin. I also though the perfect ending would have been Alfred simply smiling and leaving it up to the audience if Batman survived. The ending actually sort of sucked. It was still fun. I might even see it again.

I didn't mind the ending. The kiss didn't bother me since it was assumed bats was going to die. As far as burying him, i just assumed that that batman was done. He didn't want to be batman anymore. He wanted the world to think he was dead. Even Morgan Freeman's character didn't know. And im not sure Alfred knew.

Im with you BTW, on should have left it up to the audience to decide if he was dead or not. Had i shot the final scene it would have been similar but with Alfred Walking away, crying. Not knowing if they were happy tears or sad tears.

    Just watched it.
    I gave it 6/10: above-average.

    • Way too long, I was yawning at some points
    • a poor villain, terribly so compared to Ledger's The Joker (or even Carey's The Riddler for that matter)
    • little & fat Tom Hardy's ridiculous voice (when one could actually hear the fucking thing)
    • totally pointless inclusion of Catwoman played by the strange-looking Hthaway
    • average special-FX
    • very poor fight-scenes.
    • same fucking actors in every Nolan movie

Other than that, it was ok.

(the the guy at the end was Robin, right? :dunno: )

Heath Ledger totally stole and owned that movie in the exact same way that Tom Hardy doesn't in this one.

By all means, go and watch it...see what you think.
Not for nothing has this movie not done as expected at the box-office and i give it 4 months before the 'back-lash begins'*.

Finally saw it earlier today. Liked it a lot, but was surprised that junkies/apologists of this genre would consider it the best of the three. To me, there are few movies that will top The Dark Knight, even if a bit too long.

I had high expectations of this one and wasn't let down. Will say though, I guess I'm in the minority in that I didn't really care for the Bane character. Just didn't do anything for me.

Oddly enough, I thought Anne Hathaway held her own in this one, whereas Joseph Gordon-Hewitt's character kind of grew tired at times (and a bit unbelievable if not forced, as well).

Also for some reason, many elements of this movie felt like a cross between Dark Knight and Inception. Maybe it has to do with - as mentioned earlier in the thread - same supporting players appearing in several of Nolan's films.

I'd say somewhere between 8.5-9 out of 10. Very good, perhaps great, but not epic.

    ***SPOILER***

Well, here's a couple of things:

1 - Catwoman was not even necessary to the plot. There's no background story as for how she learned to fight, etc. She took Batman out of character with her dialogue and stupid one-liner jokes.

2 - I LOVED Bane...until that twist at the end with Rhas Al Gul's daughter. He ended being a retarded pawn, very unlike the comics. Bane is supposed to be a leader, he's intelligent, a revolutionary like Che Guevara. He's a bit from his bio taken from wikipedia:

Though imprisoned, his natural abilities allowed him to develop extraordinary skills within the prison's walls. He read as many books as he could get his hands on, built up his body in the prison's gym, and learned to fight in the merciless school of prison life. Because of the cultural and supposed geographical location of Santa Prisca, Bane knew how to speak English, Spanish, Portuguese and Latin.

Also, the morphine doesn't explains his strength. Being hooked on morphine is like being hooked on heroine. It's sort of a depressant. It obviously doesn't makes you super strong, able to break concrete with your fists. That being said, Tom Hardy did a helluva job. I loved his distorted voice and he performed very well given the fact that one couldn't see his facial expressions due to his mask.

3 - The ending felt rushed. One minute there were 25 days left for the bomb to explode, the other minute Batman is back from Africa and there's 12 hours left.

4 - I was baffled by "Robin". Nolan has said a long time ago that he wouldn't even touch that character. It was a nice twist at the end, and it was sort of his way of leaving the door open to WB and Gordon Levitt to keep the current storyline alive.

5 - That being said, I enjoyed the movie. It's not better than the previous one, but it had lots of action and overall good acting.

I'd give it a 7.5/10. I too enjoyed the Bane character and thought his voice sounded cool even if it meant not always understanding what he was saying. I agree Catwoman may have been unnecessary. Taking her out of the film could have really reduced the films length but it would have left Bruce without a love interest. Overall not a bad film but wasn't quite up to par with the last one. Lots of things felt a bit more unrealistic and/or forced at times.

Couple things I'd like to mention:

    Spoilers ahead

1.) Bane said he didn't see light til he was twenty yet there was clearly sunlight most of the time in that prison. Everytime people discussed the prison they would say it was hell on earth and sooo dark yet everyone in there seemed so friendly and always willing to lend a hand, if not a rope.

2.) I'm not saying that I knew the kid wasn't Bane but up until his true identity was revealed I did think it was a bad portrayal of the kid at first, because that kid looked way to soft and pussified to be the guy that turned out to be Bane.

3.) Remember the scene when Batman is way up on that thin tower looking down on Gotham? Did anyone else wonder why he was up there? How would he get down? How much time would he waste climbing down? A cool looking yet stupid visual that.

4.) I hated how Wayne meets Rhas Al Gul's daughter one time then they kiss later like they've been so into each other forever. Then Batman is acting all pussywhipped over this chick talking about how he's going to come back for her or always asking about her like he's in love with the first piece of ass he's had in eight years.

Exactly what I said: Bane = short, fat and shit.

I hope some other director picks up the reins and does 'Batman & Robin', but still featuring Bale and Gordon-Levitt.

I also think the characters of Chief O'Hara and BatGirl should also be introduced.

This is funny coming from a guy that rates Burton's Batman over Nolan's Batman Begins. You are in no position to criticize ANYONE on films.

As I said before, there's a reason why The Avengers has an over 90% approval rating. Excellent film.

I loved TDK btw...LOVED IT. I prefer Batman Begins though.

But I don't understand your hatred of Avengers. You're insane.

Iron man fighting Thor, Thor vs Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Loki and his army, Hulk going berserk...the last hour of Avengers was as good as it gets.

Yeah man, it was so stupid. He also fell for Catwoman when she was a bitch and had him almost killed. I wonder if they filmed the finished revised script or they made a mistake and filmed the first draft.

This is the only criticism I don't agree with at all. I think this is only an issue if you try to make it one. Tom Hardy had his face covered and was barely recognizeable vs. his Inception character, Gordon-Levitt didn't remind me of his Inception role at all either, the French girl (forgotten her name) is the only one I can see because I didn't think the actress or the character fit in the film properly... but overall there chracters have little or no interaction with each other as they did in the Inception movie. I didn't think it was an issue in the slightest

    Spoiler:

Bane said he spent the first 20 years of his life in darkness. Yet we saw a CHILD escape from the prison. DUH! That should have been a dead give away that the child wasn't Bane.

Anyway, the movie was excellent. Though as others have said, not as good as The Dark Knight.

    8.5/10 for Dark Knight Rises

Fuck me you're right. Good thing I didn't think about it too much (maybe since I was constantly glancing over at the emergency exit door every 2 minutes!) becaue that kinda numbs the twist at the end a bit!

When I went on Saturday night, the air-con was shot at the this particular screen at the multiplex so both Left and Right exit doors were left open. :scared2:
