I had to watch a proper trailer for this when I went to watch 'The Dark Knight Rises'.
Even though it has the name 'Christopher Nolan' in it, I hope it turns out good because DC need a big hit.

(in fact, I think their most entertaining movie to date is 'Green Lantern')

Green lantern more entertaining that The Dark Knight or Batman Begins?

Well, I re-watched 'Batman Begins' a few weeks ago and didnt like it as much as I did.
'The Dark Knight' is still up there in Top-5 comicbook/superhero movies opurely because of Ledger's The Joker.

I'm going to watch 'Green Lantern' again this week to confirm/deny my earlier statement.

DC should be pushing out loads of stuff, at least:
    Wonder Woman
    The Flash
    Justice League Of America

I agree that DC should be jumping on the Marvel bandwagon and take advantage of the current superhero movie fever. But apparently, besides Batman & Superman, they don't consider their other characters good enough for big screen treatment.

They arent strong enough. DC was and always will be in Marvel's shadow.

Difficult to sell "The Flash" IMO. Can't see that character holding a film. Fast flashy guy runing around at the speed of light? Ah...no.

Green lantern was entertaining in a kinda way though. Kinda reminiscent of Fantastic 4 and the Silver Surfer in a couple ways though...although better.

Anyway....back to Superman. I'm not convinced that this actor (of Immortals/Tudors fame) can carry it off. When it comes to Superman, casting is paramount.

You can cast any old quirky dimple-chinned fucker as Batman as has been proven....but Superman has to LOOK like Superman. He doesn't wear a mask and hide in the shadows.

How could you stand Ryan Reynold's poor acting?

Did they actually say that, or is it just an assumption on your part?

It's a super hero movie dude, not Gone With The Wind. Fact of the matter is Reynolds isn't that bad, it's just like with most 2nd to 3rd tier actors he has a lot of haters.

I wrote 'but apparently' which is clearly my assumption.

But look at the track of movies done by both companies:

Marvel: Spiderman (4 films), X-Men (5 films), Hulk (2 films), Iron Man (2 films and a third one in production...btw Ben Kingsley will play the Mandarin), Punisher (3 films), Blade (3 films), Daredevil (1 film and a revamp in the works), Fantastic Four (2 films), Captain America (2 films and sequel in production), Thor (1 film and sequel in preproduction), The Avengers (1 film and there will be many sequels), Elektra (1 film), Howard The Duck (1 film...thank God!)

DC: Superman (6 films counting the upcoming Man of Steel, plus several tv shows), Batman (7 films and one tv show), Wonder Woman (1 70's tv show and 1 recent unaired tv pilot), Aquaman (1 unaired tv pilot), The Flash (1 short-lived 90's tv series), Birds of Prey (short-lived tv show), Catwoman (1 film), Swamp Thing (2 films & 1 short-lived tv series), Steel (1 film),Watchmen (1 movie), Green Lantern (1 film)...can't remember anything else.

Did some of those films count as DC tho? DC is now heavily in the movie industry, but when superman was initially made and batman too, DC didnt have a movie company.

DC has a crapload of uninteresting characters. Wonder woman is cheesy, flash too. Aquaman is laughable.

I am glad to hear they will make a movie about this cool character. I just hope it is faithful to its source (the costume will probably be made extremely different).
There was a nice little 1978 tv movie about Dr. Strange which was supposed to be the pilot for a tv series. Even though it got good reviews and good ratings, eventually CBS decided to not make the show because of its occult theme might offend some people and scare children.:pissed:

I am reading that Marvel supposedly wants Dr. Strange as part of the esemble of the next Avengers film! WTF? Dr. Strange is the leader of the Defenders not an Avenger.Oh, well, if they first make an introductory film that's fine with me. Actor Patrick Dempsey, who is a Marvel fan, is vocally begging for the role. I prefer another actor, like Liam Neeson, who can command wisdom and respect in a believable way.

I like Liam too but I think he's a bit too old now for that sort of role. Plus factor in future Avenge films 2 or 3 years away and he only stands to get really too old for the role.

It's interesting that Anthony would post this trailer. His avatar has the last Jonathan Kent in it. Glenn Ford was a great Pa Kent.

Yeah, you can pretty much always tell when your superhero film bombed. Instead of going to the sequel which they built up for, they go straight for the reboot.
