Good win for Joshua. Key point: Joshua landed lead rights easier than he did jabs. Rationale? Joshua doesn't have a jab and the Chinese guy was too easy to hit.

People go on about Cammarelle being boring etc, but....he's got a stoppage win in the ammies over arguably Britain's best current HW prospect, David Price. Price is better than Joshua, and is a legitimately massive puncher. Cammarelle isn't the fighter he used to be. All in all it's a shallow division and the best future pro of the lot of them is probably the unheralded Dychko followed closely by the simian fellow from Azaeri land.

Funny thing is that Joshua has only been boxing about 3-4 years, Ogogo has been doing it most his life. I think there's stuff to work with with Joshua, gotta remember he's very raw.

Chinese guy was stopped by Cammarelle 4 years ago.:kick:

When I watch Joshua box, his footwork reminds me of what kids do......he does footwork for the sake of showing his coach that he can follow his orders.

There's no method to it, he does footwork like somebody making a cake for the first time. They put in sugar not because of any divine inspiration or innate knowledge on their behalf, but merely because the instructions say so.

Cammarelle was a very good fighter not so long ago. He absolutely wiped Price out if I recall.

Yes. Initially, I heard, from Bunce, that Joshua had destroyed him. Then I watched the fight. Close fight.

Joshua's footwork is legitimately appalling. There were times when he stood, legs wide apart, and started wailing away with clumsy hooks.

Nah, Big Dave could have continued. Ref waved the fight off way too quickly. He was stunned more than anything.

I don't expect a female boxer to be as good as a male one, but I expect them to be on about the same level technically wise. So far from what I've seen, it's simply not the case. Technically they are awfull and look like they barely know how to box. Not that it matters much to me cause I wouldn't watch it even if they'd be as good as men. Seeing women beat each others up is just weird and disturbing

I though he didn't looked good. The rican was a cutie who gave angle and counterpunched well and Lumochenko (sic) tactic seemed to simply tried to overpowered him. Very disapointing stuff but it may be a case were the puerto rican was also a very good fighter

The puerto rican had faster hands than Lomachenko and wasn't afraid of him. Lomachenko's style is easier to implement over 12 rounds and I would favor him in the pros, but the Puerto Rican has more room to improve. I think he is 20?

Lomachenko didn't look as bad as I expected.

It was a difficult, competitive fight, but guys like the Rican are never easy to fight. Slick, mobile, counter punchers - especially ones with good range and speed.

In 1996, the big worry was that they would finish with NO GOLD.

    In 2012...no medal at all.

God damn...there must be some midgets with sick jump shots.

It's hilarious in a way, given how arrogant many Americans are, and dismissive of fighters from "Yurp" - but ultimately as a boxing fan it's just kind of sad.

I was hoping to see some exciting young talent that could become part of the next generation of pros, someone to look forward to seeing after Floyd and any other elite Americans retire.

Is it sad? Yes. But it fucks me right off...the notion that American boxing is some sort of vast, glutinous viscous pool of talent that has been seamlessly and intangibly siphoned off into the serpentine bowels of "Football and Basketball" makes me most livid.

So long as American boxing wants to pretend that the simian masses of the Steppe, Wald and Tundra are only winning medals because "Our boys are playing football", then I won't have any sympathy for them.

I will miss having no truly elite Americans in the game after Floyd leaves, I hope they can pick it back up again.
