:: That's about it. He's naturally big but even at that he wasn't much bigger than Camma. Barry McGuigan was saying the other day that scrubby josh will "Dominate" the HW div in 5 years time. You know why? Because "he's 6'6" and can do the 100m in 11 seconds". LEAP!! JUMP!! ORDER!! PROGRESS!!! You could hear Richie Woodhall laying the ground in the commentary.....his usual fare for when he knows the score and wants to let on without saying...."I think josh has, uh, turned this around".
Yeah, this 'robbery' talk is out of place here. I think Joshua probably nicked it and said so just before the end of the fight. Both were crap and it was a close fight; a point either way would have been justifiable. MTF
Come on...he won the third reasonably clear in what was a scrappy as fuck round. The first two rounds were closer that the third. MTF
There's no argument for Joshua winning either of the first 2 rounds, so unless you thought he flat out dominated the 3rd, I don't see how it's a Joshua win :dunno: And did you see the Shitty Gogo Vs the Ukrainian and Scrubby Josh Vs the Cuban? They weren't close fights at all, they were complete robberies.
This is the problem. Camma and scrubby josh are...well...enough said. The Cuban would never turn pro. That's the problem. The good guy got ripped off and the two finalists, one of them is too old and the "winner" is a fucking no-hoper who benefited from home-town protection. @Slice: when I was reading the comments in this thread it was obvious that what had happened to Joshua in a lot of his fights was happening again. Slow, easy to hit, ponderous...and I always knew he would get the decision. Feebles said he got his head kicked in during the first round. Official score? 6-5. :: The Cuban beat his ass in the first round of their fight and scrubby josh went in a point up. :scratcher: Its obvious he is being looked after. This is the next big mess in the pro game, if he turns pro.
Right now Joshua isn't going to do much as a pro, but he's only been boxing for just over 3 years. He should stay amateur and work on his game, very raw, but unlike most here it seems, I think there's something to work with.
I'd give him the fight with Dycho simply because Dycho either went asleep or coasted or took his foot off and scrubby josh was still looking for it. He wasn't finding it of course but like a child looking for his non-existent homework, he at least kept looking. But the Cuban fight was where this should have been nipped in the bud.
That might all well be perfectly true. In fact nobody denied he ever had some potential......it doesn't change for one minute the fact that he lost to the Cuban.
He didn't win it by three points. You can give him the third if you want but a round which is won by 3 is usually won big. Fastest countback ever, by the way, they usually take a bit longer.
I said before, despite his inexperience, he's a lot better than Shitty Gogo. He has decent punching technique, a bit of power, and doesn't fight like a flailing retard. But that's beside the point, he received 2 gifts in the Olympics, one of them was a fight where no argument whatsoever could be made for Josh winning. The Cuban beat him up. And he was getting this decision regardless, to cap off the British success, in one of the absolute last events.
THat's pretty much what it comes down to. The "never fight in Germany" thing rings pretty hollow right now.
Camarelle is pretty funny, if you showed film of him in grainy black and white, with a few frames cut out here and there, you'd think he was a fighter from around the 1930's.
And as far as amateur scoring goes, I think he won the 1st and 2nd rounds by a bigger margin than Josh won the 3rd.
I though the scoring in this fight was pretty damn good, actually. One point and two points in the first two made perfect sense, and the third had a LOT more action so there was a lot more to score. Scrubby Josh got two gifts, especially against the Cuban, but this wasn't a gift IMO. MTF
All the countback tells you is that scrubby josh was being looked after...it means the judges were button mashing from the get go. It works by seeing how many times the judges mashed the button for you and how many times they mashed the button for the other guy. So if you land a punch and two judges out of 5 mash it for you, you won't get the point, but if it goes to count back, they will take it into account.
No way does he win the first big. Joshua actually kept rage well and scored with some sound shots in that round. he lost it, rightly, because he took a hiding for the last twenty seconds, but they were the only 20 seconds Camarelle won in that round. MTF :dunno:
I dislike him because he should have turned pro, had a crack at it, made some money, and fucked off again. Apart from that I like the guy, like his odd style, he used to be more fluid before he got injured.
That's true, Josh was just edging the round until the end, but Wop Lump landed enough shots for at least a one point margin. The second round was another story, that was clearly a bigger round for Berto than the 3rd was for Josh, so even if you thought the first round was even, again, I don't see how Josh won :dunno: It wasn't a daylight robbery in the same vein as the Cuban fight, where he got dominated, but it was still a gift decision.
After he beat the Chinaman a few years ago I said he should turn pro and the place was littered with people saying he wouldn't make it. This was in 2008 just before Vitali came back. So.....he didn't know Vitali was coming back, he should have been in there trying to make some noise.
The second round couldn't have been a big round for either guy because not a lot happened. Camarello (copyright Amir Fencepost 2012) won because he landed several nice right hands but not a lot happened either way. The third was an action round; sloppy as hell but more punches thrown that the other two rounds combined. That meant there was a lot more potentially to score, which is why I don't have much of a problem with the decision. Camarello has put in a protest, mind. MTF
