The Dark Knight Rises saw its three week reign ended by the newest chapter in the Bourne series. The Bourne Legacy grossed $40.2 million to claim the #1 spot at the box office while The Dark Knight Rises fell to the third spot with $19.5 million. Will Ferrell's The Campaign surprisingly took the second spot with $27.4 million. Meryl Streep showed her star power again by her film Hope Springs debuting in the fourth place with $15.6 million. The new Bourne film still has a long way to go before it can recoup its $125 million budget which by far is the most expensive Bourne film from the franchise. The Dark Knight behaved exactly like Marvel The Avengers by reigning supreme for three weeks and then conceding the #1 spot to a new release from an old franchise (in Avengers case it was Men in Black 3). But contrary to the Marvel film The dark Knight fell to the third spot which wasn't case with the Avengers. Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3 is holding nicely in the fifth spot with $8.2 million, but Total Recall had a disastrous second week drop of 68% lcrash landing in the sixth spot with $8.1 million for a total of $44 million (you can officially call it a bomb). The Watch and The Amazing Spiderman are neck to neck battling for the tenth spot with $2.2 million. Tomorrow we will find out which one officially exited the top ten list.
The Bourne movie will be a one week king since next Friday The Expendables 2 will debut and will kick its butt. Also kids will run to watch "Paranorman'.
I didn't cared much for the first one.In fact I didn't liked it. Ultra violent and most of the actors had very little time to shine since Stallone & Stahan occupied most of the screen time. This one is PG-13 and has Norris & Van Damme so I want to watch it, but I am sure I will be dragged to watch "Paranorman"...when you have kids you don't have much of a choice.:Boo:
