I wouldn't think seem like a great idea for a remake. The Cold War inspired the original movie, and that concept seems outdated now---particularly when you realize that it's likely to be nukes used in a conflict and not ground troops. Perhaps they find a way to make it work.
I'd like to make some sort of grand statement, along the lines of "How dare they remake such a classic film"...................but I had the misfortune of re-watching the original recently, and it really was an imbecilic piece of shit. Only nostalgia colored glasses will tell you otherwise. :nono: I'd also have a hard time believing this isn't just more of the same, especially since it looks like scenes have been lifted directly from the original based on the trailer................just a different color enemy.
Back then it would have been nukes also. Just because we didn't have Ipods in the 80's, doesn't mean we were short on Guided Missile Technology. Russians randomly land in some Mid-Western Corn Belt State and the High School kids beat them back.................GTFOH with that shit! ::
I have never watched the original "Red Dawn" for the same reasons you guys mentioned before: the premise was completely moronic and an insult to anyone with a little gray matter in the brain. How that film became a minor hit speaks volumes about how America is full of idiots. I did watched its rip-off "Invasion USA", but that one was a campy Chuck Norris film and you knew it was not taking itself seriously (a one man army defeats the invaders! LOL)
Look okay....I'll watch it...but Hollywood folks are such pussies, I thought the invaders would be CHINA...but from the flags in the trailer it seem to be North Korea...:limp:
