Anyone watch this? I remember seeing the pilot the day it came out and was disappointed in it. Anyway, my girlfriend owns the DVD's and kept suggesting it's good and that I should watch it so I finally did. And you know what? It's pretty good. It's not run out and buy it great, like Thrones or anything but it's worth a rental IMO. PROS - The character building and drama is the best thing about the series. You start out not caring too much about the characters and even feel like they don't fit with who they're portraying but then you start to see growth and change occuring in them. There's a lot of drama installed in the series and even the extended characters are pretty nice. The directing isn't bad, and the dialogue is good too. CONS - Perhaps my biggest pet peeve is the lack of attention to detail in so many things. For instance, if survival is the Connors biggest goal wouldn't wearing seatbelts be a pretty simple necessity? You would think after getting in a couple of car accidents and even getting injuried that wearing seat belts would finally become a priority. Also why have a Terminator shoot at you from a few feet away and miss? A Terminator would be a crack shot and would not miss from that range. I also hate the way they'll have Sarah Connor make stupid decisions putting her, the future of our species, and her son in jeopardy for dumb reasons such as she has a crush on some guy. The action sequences and special effects can be kind of tame and you'll never forget you're watching a tv series. It also seems like they'll send people back from the future whenever they need a new story arc but all in all it's a pretty good series.
I just want to mention this about the series. Like I said I initially watched the pilot and thought it stunk, and reading the series numbers showed that after opening with about 18 million viewers the next show opend with about 10 million and slowly declined to where the show lasted only 2 seasons. There's a reason for that. Watching the pilot you could tell that everyone was mailing it in. The direction and editing were pathetic, the special effects were cheap, the actors weren't giving much effort, and the stunts were sometimes unintentionally funny. Watching the 2nd episode was like night and day. Better acting, directing and editing. I realize you can't put too much money in a pilot but that crappiness is probably the reason so many people didn't watch the follow-up episode and maybe the overall reason for the shows pemature demise.
i thought it was good. i remember a lot of folks were wanting a 3rd season. the end of season 2 was awesome. did the writers' strike lead to its cancellation? i remember a lot of new shows getting nixed around that time.
The gal from that series guest starred in an episode of The Big Bang Theory as herself. The nerds characters went gaga over her because her association with that tv show made her hotter.
I thought she was pretty good in Firefly/Serenity, but I don't recall seeing her in anything else besides that and the Terminator series.
Well as I said in my second post the rating numbers slowly declined each week. It eventually got to where it was so low that not only did they not pick up another season but didn't even attempt to shop it to another network. Seems minimal viewers tuning in and not the writers strike is what led to its demise.
