If UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (22-2 MMA, 16-2 UFC) returns from a 19-month injury layoff and can defeat interim titleholder Carlos Condit (28-5 MMA, 5-1 UFC) during an expected UFC 154 clash in November, one of the biggest fights in UFC history could be up next.

As expected, UFC President Dana White said it'll be against middleweight champion Anderson Silva (32-4 MMA, 15-0 UFC).

It's close enough to reality that White has a weight (180 pounds) and venue (105,000-seat Cowboys Stadium) in mind for the super fight.

"I think we're pretty close," White said Tuesday on FUEL TV's "UFC Tonight." "If Georges St-Pierre beats Condit, that could be the next fight.

"These guys want to fight each other now. If you're a fighter and you've dominated as long as Anderson has, and you've been great as long as Georges has, you finally want to say, 'I want to test myself. I think I can beat this guy.'"

The cross-division super fight was once the biggest fight imaginable. Light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones' quick rise has complicated matters, though few of the involved parties currently seem interested in a Silva vs. Jones fight.

Still, St-Pierre vs. Silva has epic possibilities. While St-Pierre previously said such a fight would require him to move up to the middleweight division permanently – and though Silva has hinted at the possibility of moving down to welterweight – White believes they'd meet on middle ground.

"They'll probably do the fight at 180 (pounds)," he said. "At one point, it sounded like Anderson wanted to go to 170. He wanted to take Georges' welterweight title. Then it was 180, the catch weight, because Georges doesn't want to go to '85. Georges said, 'If I have to make a move to go to '85, I'd have to stay at '85.' So we figured a 180-pound catch weight makes sense.

"If that fight happens, it will probably happen at Dallas' Texas Stadium."

That, of course, would set the stage for a potentially record-breaking show. The UFC held its first – and to date, only – stadium show in April 2011 at Toronto's Rogers Centre. St-Pierre headlined UFC 129 opposite Jake Shields, and fellow Canadian and featherweight title challenger Mark Hominick met champ Jose Aldo in the co-headliner. The event shattered UFC and North American MMA records for attendance (55,724) and gate ($12.1 million).

I don't really have any interest in this fight. Silva is just too big for GSP, even at some hokey catch weight. Also, I hate hokey catch weights.

Not gonna happen. Someone will get injured and then the other guy will take some next fight and so on and so on.

I think GSP gets knocked out if this happens.

Me too. I think GSP is just too small to repeatedly take A.S down and keep him there. They should have scheduled the fight to take place at a Stadium in Brazil and if it's even remotely competitive schedule a rematch in Montreal.

I would love to see this fight. Both guys are running out of dudes to beat up.

They both have options at their own weight.

Condit is going to knock GSP out so it's really moot.

Nice try but Jones wasn't moving up or down in weight. He refused to fight a guy at his own weight on a day he was scheduled to fight. Apples to Oranges.

Personally I don't think Jones was afraid or ducking Sonnen. I think he was just being a diva.

Who could Silva fight that would really catch the imagination, who would excite you? GSP I guess is a little different but only because he is injured and hasn't fought in a long time

Well, if you change the terms from "anyone to beat up" to "really catch the imagination", then I don't disagree. No one could match Jones or GSP as opponents for Silva.

But at 185 there are legit challenges in Weidman, Bisping and Rockhold or Jacare from Strikeforce.

Again, none are as popular, but are still deserving challengers that Silva hasn't beaten.

IMO they are simply the next guys in line.... a never ending line but none of them on the level.

Weidman is a legit challenge. He's a young fighter with great wrestling and good hands. Sonnen proved Silva is weak as shit against good wrestling and absolutely can't get up when a good wrestler has top position.

What's really amazing is how Silva hasn't really been tested by good MMA wrestlers over a very long career until Sonnen came along. But there is no question that Silva has weak take down D.

I think we all agree Silva is 'weak' against a top wrestler.. There will always be legit challengers and top contenders but as this stage of this career its big marquee fights or whats the point

silva would drop down to 155 to fight henderson if it means he doesn't have to fight jones

DUCKING is DUCKING, Regardless of the Circumstances...So Sayeth the THREADS on this Forum, Last Time REED Checked...

GSP & Silva are Bigger Threats to Each Other, than Sonnen Would Be to Jones...As Such, if Jones is Accused of "Ducking", the Same Rule Applies Here....

Not true. Cant duck someone with a 15 pound weight difference. It just makes no sense.

If Jon Jones can "Rightfully" Be Accused of "Ducking" Sonnen, Common Sense DICTATES that Silva or GSP would B Ducking the Other, Dependent Upon who NIXES the Deal...

YOU Have a CONVENIENT Idea of Common Sense, but it DOESN'T Work that Way in the Real World...

Nope Sorry. Not true. Sonnen and Jones are the same weight. If GSP moves up in weight or Silva moves down in weight and then avoid each other, you would have a point. But not fighting someone with a 15 pound weight difference is not ducking. if someone's body cant handle the weight, we cant fault them for it. if someone doesnt want to add 15 pounds or remove 15 pounds to their body, we cant fault them for that.

If this fight ever happens its going to be big for the fans. I would have given GSP a good chance to win before he hurt his knee, it wouldn't have been pretty but he has the ground game and top control to have given Silva fits. However I have a big question mark about GSP until I see him fight Condit after his knee injury. He'll likely be a bit rusty, even if he's in shape. He may not even get past Condit.

Up to this point, I think GSP has been avoiding Silva. I think GSP realizes Silva is no joke and it would take one of his best performances to come out on top against a larger highly skilled opponent. I think GSP never really wanted the fight but I think the media and fan outcry for it is starting to pressure him to consider it now. I think GSP stands a better chance to win than even he probably believes.
