Let me start off by saying I don't blame Jones for rejecting the fight. After all it's his career and his decision. If he feels he doesn't have enough time to prepare for a different opponent then so be it. Sure he could have done the fans and the UFC a favor and take the fight but it could have ended up costing him in the long run. UFC seriously expects too much out of their fighters. It acts like it's their daddy and the kid should do anything and everything daddy wants him to do or else there will be problems. UFC could have stacked the card more instead of coming up with so many new cards nowadays. UFC is seriously getting out of hand greedy and it's a actually a little refreshing to see them take a bit of a hit. Bottom line Jones could have taken the replacement opponent and got huge praise for it but bottom line he didn't have to and shouldn't have been expected to.
Thank goodness we got your take. I think I speak for everyone when I say we can finally put this one to rest now that Boss has spoken. But the shirt in my signature is still dead on!
Jon Jones is one of the most talented and dominant champs at the moment, and he was offered a fight against a guy that brings nothing to the table he hasn't preapred for against Henderson or seen already from other opponents and Chael was 20lbs below him and likely wasn't even in top fighting shape. Chael was the one that was laying it all on the line, he was the one at a HUGE disadvantage against Jones on short notice but he still stepped up. Its not that Jones couldn't have won and he likely would have dominated Chael, he just chose not to fight Chael out of spite because Chael pissed him off with the trash talk and Jones already had it made up in his mind that he wasn't going to just give Chael a title shot before this offer was on the table. That is all there is to it, no matter how much Greg Jackson or Jones tries to spin it. Jones was being an ass, and it came back to bite him in his own ass.
