Could the current Pavlik beat Junior? Personally, I wouldn't surprised. Junior sucks so much, that I believe even the current version of Pavlik may batter him.
It's possible...Pavlik is a lot bigger than Martinez and probably has better pure power. I think he could. He wouldn't give a fuck for Junior, thats for sure. He could beat up Junior and drink Senior under the table on the same night.

The Fight wouldn't MEAN Much in the Scheme of Things, but it'd Be 1 of those Fan Friendly Affairs that Leaves the Viewer EXHAUSTED Afterwards... NEITHER Guy Can SPELL Defense, Much Less Play It...They Both STRUGGLE w/Speed & Movement, they Both LACK Speed & Movement...VERY SIMILAR to Each Other, Stylistically...Pavlik's More TECHNICALLY Sound (BETTER Jab, CRISPER Combo's, Doesn't FLAIL or LOOP his Shots as Jr. Does, etc.) & hits HARDER, so REED Likes the Ghost in a Barn Burner... This Fight NEEDS To Happen...& if Jr-Martinez Did Good PPV #'s, Jr.- Pavlik Would as Well...Feature them on a Twin Bill, Against Tune-Ups, do a Couple Episodes of 24/7 to Build it Up, & the Rest will Take Care of Itself...This is 1 of those Can't Miss, GUARANTEED Action Fights... As others have pointed out it should be a beauty stylewise. However we don't know how much Pavlik has left in the tank. Maybe a few good body shots from Chavez pave the way for an earlier than expected ending.
Precisely. I would also favour even this version of Pavlik because of his better technical ability and power.
If Pavlik still has an ounce of what he showed in spells against Martinez he will beat Junior, but it would be interesting to see how he would cope if Junior layed on the pressure and body combos.
I give Pavlik a good chance in stopping Jr. This will be a fight where Jr will not enjoy a 20+ pound advantage fight Night. Pavlik got power and Jr is there to be hit.
Jr has never been in the ring with a guy as big as Pavlik. I think as soon as Jr feels that power he will be reluctant to attack the body. It would be very interesting.
If it's the Pavlik of 3-4 years ago i'd agree. Now i wouldn't be so sure. He could be further past it then we already figure or possibly just show up for the payday. I hope neither are true of course.
I have to go against the grain. I do think Pavlik is more technically sound, but its apparent he's declined. I see Pavlik staying in the mix too long and getting caught by something big. I'd take the young gun in this one. (One of the few fights I'd take Chavez in as I don't think much of him besides his size.)
Non-drunk Pavlik from a few years back would put an unholy beating on Chavez. The current version makes for a more competitive fight but I think ultimately Chavez would be too much for him at this point.
