People kept calling Wlad every year saying Wlad Corrie just turned 42 and is up to 280 pounds. Wlad said no. They would call him again and again saying Wlad Corrie is 45 and 340 pounds, he can't tie his own shoes. Wlad would say no. They called him last year and said Wlad he's as shot as he can be fight him. He's 47 and 430 pounds and lost all feeling in his left arm. Wlad still said no. I rarely feel sorry for Boxers that get killed or have bad experiences after retirement, from guys like Scott Harrison to Frank Bruno etc etc, but I do feel Sanders deserved better than to be shot up in a restaurant. Most boxers have an innate bad streak but in Sanders case whatever he did or said didn't warrant that. South Africa is an ignorant anarchical mess. It has not improved. The potential for improvement has increased since the end of apartheid but there has been precious little actual progress. Oddly enough, I can see Vitali Klitschko copping a bullet down the road, the way he is going. Putin and his friends don't like opposition.

Harsh as it may be, it might be something that only time can change... Little implementations here and there, a positive step here, a positive step there... Africa in general is a continent fucked harder by colonialism than just about anywhere on Earth... In many of these countries, those who 100 years ago would have been the enslaved, the oppressed are now faced with having to run the show. As mad as it is, as unbelievable as the violence is in many places, it is something that will likely take centuries to correct. These are people basically learning to be a civilization, learning to govern, etc. ... If I have a baby and lock it in a room, deprive it of all but the most basic sustenance and then suddenly unlock the door when that baby is 14 years old and say "ok, you are free to go", he's not just going to suddenly be a normal 14 year old. That's the basic metaphor for many countries in Africa. It's going to take a long time for things to get better there. There is a lot of learning to be done, and a lot of UN-learning to be done.
