The risk that a gay man will have hiv is substantially higher than that of a straight man if everything else is equal. I know you all want to gang up on Hegman and suck his dick, but what he said isn't necessarily wrong.
What about heroin users? They are at just as high a risk. Do you think there are more gay guys or heroin users in boxing?
I think if a boxer admits that he is a heroin user then the risk that he will have hiv is substantially higher than that of a non-user if everything else is equal. The fact is, Hegman's comment was irrelevant because any cornerman who doesn't wear gloves is taking an unnecessary and imprudent risk. But, that doesn't make it inaccurate. And to answer your question, I'd guess there are more gays than heroin users, but I don't know.
This particular boxer does not have HIV, so the comment was fucking retarded and he was deservedly ripped on for making it, as you will now be for defending him, you contrarian simp

"HEY BOY!!! You look mighty cute in them Benlee Jodhpurs!!! Now come over here.....and fuck me up da ass!!!"
Come on, you must be smarter than this. First of all, even though the risk among gay men is higher, the % of HIV positive is still extremely low, so if you just meet a random person, assuming that he has HIV is just plain stupid. And second, this is not a random person but an individual whom his trainers know. As a world class athlete he has been through numerous medical tests so in all likelihood he does know if he is HIV positive or not. And since he knows this, the statistic means jack shit. It would be the same as a woman would fear her husband because the statistics show that men are more violent than women. karl'S takE waS jusT extremelY stupiD
John Holmes fucked a million broads but it wasn't until he did a shopworn ex-boxer in the kaboosh that he got the gay disease.
Who assumed he has HIV? Not me. Your take is feel-good crap and dangerous. 'this is not a random person but an invidual who his trainers know.' As if they are keeping track of who he is fucking or getting fucked by. Are you saying his trainers shouldn't wear gloves because they know him? Come on. Personally, I'm wearing gloves no matter what because there's no good reason not to for any fighter. Even if you know your fighters is A-Okay, there is the other guy. But this is just ignoring the point: AIDS continues to pose a threat of unprecedented magnitude to gay men1 in the United States. Though representing approximately 2% of the population aged >13 years,2 men who have sex with men (MSM), including those who inject drugs, comprise a majority of new HIV infections (64% in 2010) and represent nearly half of all persons living with HIV. The rate of new HIV diagnoses among MSM is more than 44 times that of other men and more than 40 times that of women.3 Since the epidemic began, almost 300,000 MSM in the U.S. have died from AIDS, including an estimated 6,863 in 2009.4 Gay men of color are at particular risk. Among MSM, there are sharp differences in HIV incidence by race: In 2006, the risk for HIV infection was 4.97 times higher for black MSM (1,710:100,000) and 2.08 times higher for Hispanic MSM (716:100,000) than for white MSM (344:100,000) (see Figure 1).5 http://www.amfar.org/uploadedFiles/_amfarorg/In_The_Community/EndingEpidemicIB.pdf That is 7 out of a 1,000. CDC estimates that MSM account for just 2% of the U.S. population, but accounted for 61% of all new HIV infections in 2009. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/factsheets/us.htm So when Karl said 'I will definitely say he is high risk when it comes to boxing safety...', and everyone wants to call him names because 'high risk' isn't a .7% chance, well the relative risk just increased 44 times compared to what it had been prior to having the new information and it is fair, I think, to call that 'high risk.' Instead of jumping the gun on Karl, someone should have asked him to clarify what he meant. If he meant what you all thought he meant, fine. If he meant it in the comparative sense, he was correct.
Karl was clearly insinuating that the guy must have HIV because he is gay... end of story Only a moron would think otherwise
